Sounds like you have a wonderful grandma. And to think she began riding at 43! I can kind a, sort a, relate to her, all I ever wanted were horses, but this dream did not become reality until I was 34. So, now I am 50 and ride for pleasure. With the good Lord's help, maybe I will be riding well into my 80's. When this dream all became real, I was so intimidated by my horse, and even more so when she gave birth to a colt on what else, "Mother's Day, 1984". To make a long story short, this colt was really notorious, and seemed to love to walk on his hind legs as a 1 and 2 year old, I was scared to death, but after all those years, and the colt was gelded, I now have a wonderfull 11 year old stallion who occasionally rears when he's feeling his oats, but I understand them now and my fears are no longer. Tell your Grandma, yeha from Dee, and that I plan on riding at least those many years and then some. Our friends down the street gave us a "neighing" Horse Cookie Jar for Christmas ..... it's the cutest thing -- everytime you pick up the top to get a cookie, it whinnies. Well, I took it out to the barn and put "horse cookies" in it (I buy the Manna Pro Apple Waffer Horse Cookies). AND, every morning after I feed the 'herd' I give them a cookie (desert ). Yesterday morning I forgot the cookie routine ..... SEDONA was standing at the back gate of our barn -- as I started out the front gate I heard the back gate ratteling ..... here stood SEDONA rocking the gate back and forth. I yelled at her to stop and proceeded on out -- SEDONA rocked that gate even harder and as I looked up at her she very softly neighed .... At that point I remembered that I had not given them their morning "cookie" so I went and got the horse cookie jar and gave each one their attoted ookie. With that SEDONA was happy and she didn't rock the back gate anymore. Well, THIS morning I forgot the "cookie routine" again ... but THIS time it was SHAMMIE who "reminded" me. She stuck her head out the stall door and neighed ever so softly ..... not a nicker -- but an actual NEIGH but VERY quietly - TWICE she did this. Then I went over to get the cookie jar and she was happy again. Talk about conditioned -- the horses AND me are conditioned hehehehehehe> They have ME trained VERY well wouldn't you say ;-) --- * Origin: Jean's Trick Horses (Or is that TRICKY??) (1:371/33)
