I have the black and white drawing completed, and am moving on the colour illustration next. A couple of questions: 1. My horse reference books list the Norwegian Fjord as a pony, the pamphlets from the Norwegian Fjord Registry list it as a horse. I thought that there was actually quite a bit of difference between a horse and a pony, in bone & teeth structure, some behaviour patterns. Do you know why there is this double listing? 2. The issue that I got was the Fall 1997 issue, the foal issue. By the way, I love it! I am going to keep this as a valuable reference tool. If anyone else has ANY interest in sketching horses, grab a copy of the Herald - the photos are very clear and have lots of poses to help you out. My second question, though, is that in all the photos of the foals, which are in black and white, their manes look quite pale, and the dorsal stripes and leg stripes didn't show up. Is this because the striping didn't show up in the photo, or because the darker markings develop later on? ... I'm just now starting to show a "return" on monies paid ut -- we're still way in the hole but we ARE managing to work our way out of hat "hole" now. (Then I find I really need a draft horse and we're down in that hole again ). > BTW, take an old horseshow hint...get TWO of everything > (g). Glad you were > able to fix the harness...sounds like you used some good > old Yankee (g) > enginuity! I know ..... I SHOULD have had TWO of everything .....AFter all, I DID take TWO horses . BUT, where there's a will, there's way. We found a nice leather shop in a town about 50 miles from here (none closer ). We took a drive up there yesterday (Saturday) and ask if hey could fix that harness - we explained what had happened. They said they ould try but they normally didn't work on harness stuff ....... we went off for a couple of hours and when we got back they had it all fixed. They were SO ind and nice!! And they only charged us $5 (and then apoligized becuase that was a minimum charge). In the meantime, we have a friend up in that town who has a little of everyting -- he loaned us another piece of harness for a "just in case" for as long as we need it. It must have been our day yesterday !! The MAYOR of LaBelle called us last night and ask if she could hire the carriage for an hour on Monday night -- she would like to take 3 of her city employees around to look at the Christmas lights in LaBelle ..... sure glad e were able to get that harness fixed .
