Should also have a nipper (to pull the shoe) and the block of metal that the shoers use to undo the cinch they put in the nails. When in doubt.. just use a rasp to break the cinch. Oh yes.. a smoke alarm. :) BK --- DB A3000sl/001347 * Origin: * Conniption BBS * one fit at a time (1:102/861) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: EFL00014 Date: 11/17/97 From: BOB KOHL Time: 02:42am \/To: JEAN PROPHET (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Hello? >> Got it about a month ago.. got so bad I didn't go to the >> stable for a week.. >> and that's really unusual. :/ > A person doesn't feel like even BREATHING ..... Is is Lyme DW :>Disease and are its symptoms like Lyme Disease in dogs? My DW :>concern, of course, are my 2 boys, Talko and KC. Are there DW :>equine vaccines for this? I am always in search of an DW :>equine education. Sure hope your dilemma proves to be DW :>minor and all turns out ok. Delores Warder We did the Lyme titre as sort of a last resort. Just wanted to make sure that this lameness wasn't more than the laminitis from this spring (or not the secondary cause). From what I gather, there is some controversy about Lyme in horses. Some feel it is a valid concern and some not. There is no vaccine, as far as I know. Unless you live in a high risk area for Lyme, I wouldn't get too worried. Glad to see you're they type of horseman who is interested in keeping informed! Our "dilemma" seems to be the after effects of laminitis this spring. All other tests were negative, although on the high negative side. If things don't improve with shoeing, we'll go further, but I think we've ruled out just about everything else. So, we're back to square one. Ortho surgeon at Tufts reviewed the x-rays and said that there was mild rotation in both feet, nothing he could see in her ankle, and that our course of action was probably shoeing to make her comfortable and to take pressure off the sole. So, we're back to increased angles (what my farrier wanted to do in the first place) and bute for a short stint, as she was really lame on Thursday. She's better with these, so we'll see. Only going to keep her on the bute for a short period of time...tummy troubles and all that. Glad the ACTH stuff was OK, but now we're back to not knowing the cause of all this, so that's frustrating. Ah well.. BTW, Shiloh's fine (VBG)! And we got 6 inches of snow this weekend...a little early, what? I want a horse to even put up the proper lead at the walk from a standstill, this comes in handy for classes where this might be brought into play.
