I thought that was good too ....... and the little letter about the other who found her daughter sleeping with her horses red halter really made me cry ...... not bad tears -- just tears that I fully understood WHY the daughter did that. I've found comfort just stroking something that belong to "Baby". I never told anyone that but don't feel so silly doing it now that I read that other letter. I just can't bring myself to let any of the other horses wear anything that belonged to "Baby". However, I did relent and let SEDONA wear show halter that I had bought for "Baby" but "Baby" never wore. > This month's EQUUS (241) is the 20th anniversary issue, and > has a big look back > on the first 20 years, with lots of sidebars containing > biographies of the > contributors and a nice photo spread of the staff members' > horses who have been > used as models over the years. I've gotten quite a few "horsey catalogs" here lately too. I LOVE ooking at all the 'good stuff'!! I'm going to buy my herd some Christmas stockings this year. AND, I've decided to decorate the barn ....... I have people coming and going wanting carriage rides -- I thought it would be fun to have the arn all decorated up for Christmas! Such a nice little horse, and such a > waste not to be able to keep her training going. Ugh! Speaking of which.. CJ's a bit long in the foot so I was gently trying to keep her moving by barebacking on her (much ot my chigrin).. and she was tolerating it.. just very mild walks and trots... Well last night I got on her and she was high!! still was barebacking and walked her up to a pole to step over. Opps! My mistake! ;) She got high about something, started piledriving/crowhopping and I tried a dismount that didn't work. So I said the heck with it and just relaxed and slide off to the side.. landed straight on my back. Nothing to worry about except a few stiff muscles today.. but can't ride CJ since I note that something happened today and she tore off the shoe on her front left doing a fair amount of damage to the hoof. She's long enough to where I think we'll be ok when the shoer gets out. And here I thought she was over doing that kind of thing. ;) Tee hee! It's all my fault. ;-) CJ must have been peeking over my shoulder when I was watching the National Horse Show coverage on ESPN. Among other things, they had an exhibition by a group of Lipizzaners. CJ must have seen the capriole and wanted to remind you that she could do that, too. Glad your back is okay -- I once fell out of a treehouse from about five feet up and fell flat on my back. Knocked the wind out of me, but no permanent harm done. It was no fun, though, even falling on soft sand. Just to let you know that my ISP has a problem with their out going mail. I have about 15 to 20 messages piled up here that can't get sent. I have the permission to post the pictures I told you about on the page. hat is why I am telling you this in the first place. Now if i can just get them scanned in and sent to you. Also now have Adobe Acrobat 3.0. So I can convert all of the forms we wanted to put up into PDF files. Then they can be dl'ed and printed and they will look exactly as they are now. Well I only worked at riding her bareback in our arena since the soft sand is so deep (which bit me when Tush was out of control and caused the splint). Actually the only thing that really bothered me much after was some strained muscles in my neck since I was looking off to the side when I hit. I'll have her back to work on Sat depending on how well the next set of shoes goes on.. we'll see on Fri. Rode coffee tonight since I had nothing else to ride.. he actually suprised me when I hung my legs low enough since I was working on my "centered" riding.. I actually started to get him to use his body.. which is very rare for him since he's so darn spoiled and lazy. Tush is high as a kite.. but I'm only attempting some short hand walks at the moment since there's still some heat coming from the splint. Trying some new stuff called "Splint-ex".. we'll see. Right now it's only about a third of what it was since I immediately started ice packing it and put her on bute.
