Tilly looks to me to be a sort of Quarter-Horse type but I think she's the local equivalent. I don't know beans about the history of what horses were taken to Australia and New Zealand, but if they had cob-type horses and TBs, then they could have arrived at the QH type the same way we did in the US, right? So it's possible if the color is found in TBs it could have gotten there that way. [color variation] > Quite noticeable. Yes, I remember the 'dapple queen' picture quite well. It's time for me to dig out the picture box and 'visit' with everybody again; I haven't looked at my Equus echo pics in a long time. > Some lighter Palomino's are what I'd call Cremello's in > the winter. I'm not quite sure about the shooting schedule for Xena, but I would guess they wouldn't be shooting outdoors in their wintertime. So I doubt I would have much video showing Tilly's winter coat, but from the way Renee was describing it, it sure sounds like it's Cremello or close to it. By the way, another good TV show for kids who like to watch for the horse character is The Adventures of Brisco County, which is running on TNT on Saturday mornings. Comet even has his own billing in the credits at the beginning of the show. Now *that* horse is a real ham. --- Opus-CBCS 1.73a * Origin: Sci-Fido II, World's Oldest SF BBS, Berkeley, CA (1:161/84.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: EEV00001 Date: 10/25/97 From: KARIN BREWER Time: 8:37am \/To: MIKE MAY (Read 0 times) Subj: Linked?? Most of the horses at our barn are trained to stand _untied_ when being groomed, just the lead rope hanging down, to shake a bit when they misbehave. Shemmeek often stands there just "naked," without even the halter. However, I have to work a bit on keeping him straight, i.e., not swinging around a bit and investigating with his nose anything that's within reach. My fault, of course, but he is so good most of the time that I hate to deny him a harmless diversion. Of course, if there are other people and horses around, he has the halter on. The barn I board my horse at (one of them, the rest are at home) is run by an Olympian and her International Calibre husband. I haven't been up there in a while and, I just found out recently that he had coliced REALLY bad last week. A friend from the barn told me and, the people who run the barn never called me. I want to stay there because the coaching is so good but, after that incident, I don't knw what I should do. I love the other boarders up there too. I am thinking of bringing him home and trailering up there for lessons and during the winter go to a different barn that may not be as good. Does this sound reasonable to any one??? An incident like this happened before and, it was a friends horse who broke his leg and she didn't find out until 2 days later when she went up to ride him. Any suggestions as to what I should do? This horse has Olympic potential as well as I. I just don't think that this was a fair and wise decision to make about not calling me. PLEASE HELP!!!
