(I think Tilly is the New > Zealand equivalent of a Aussie Brumby, but I'm not sure.) Do you know > off-hand which of the down-under breeds show Palomino coloring? I have no idea about the breeds down under Jan. I know most of them are off shoots of TB's. There are Palominos in the TB breed. This at best is a Wild guess. > It was very fun to see the little kids asking Renee O'Connor (who plays > Gabrielle) what it was like to work with Argo -- she was surprised at > first, because I'm sure she was expecting the name of one of her human > colleagues to be at the end of the question, and had to shift gears > completely in order to answer the question. Apparently Tilly's winter > coat is very pale compared to the summer coat. How much color variation > do you see in CJ and Tush? Quite noticeable. CJ is light in the winter time and a good medium honey color in the summer if she brings in a good coat. Tush's is somewhat better / slightly darker/deeper honey with some smut. I believe you've been sent pictures of CJ with both light and darker coats. I know I've sent you a pic of the "dapple queen" picture.. that gives you some idea of the variation. Some lighter Palomino's are what I'd call Cremello's in the winter. If I'd been asked to "judge" them as an inspector way back then.. I would have never registered them, but offered the owners advise about the color variations and some tricks to get the coat darker more legitimate for registration. Didn't have >> much energy for anything fancy so we just kinda pooped >> around for awhile. Dead calm from a young horse that's been >> in the stall all week. :) > WOW -- VERY impressive for sure!! Well it keeps getting better.. I *think* she got double fed yesterday and she sure had one heck of a lot of engery tonight.. she was a little agressive.. but never *HIGH*. I've been trying to keep it low key since she was running a light temp the other day and there's a cold going through the stable. She has coughed a few times.. and the other day she was a little uncoordinated.. so I wasn't sure if it was a heat coming on, a cold, both or something to worry about.. (you know the fear).. :/ Boy did she want to go tonight! ;) As much trotting as I could take.. for about 20 minutes.. off and on.. out into the street (walking) down to the public arena.. she wanted to trot again.. all during a cold dark windy night.. of course when she didn't want to trot.. she wanted to stick her nose in the dirt and walk around. ;) Kept her as collected as I could.. but my riding tonight wasn't brilliant. Went up the street for a bit to let her follow one of the neighborhood cats.. It was a classic Holloween type night with the spooky dark, wind, cold weather (girls are getting blanketed).. nada! not a spook, nothing and I did get tense of few times. On top of that.. she was so affectionate. drove me nuts trying to get her groomed. Wish I had a video camera. If I can shake off the last vestigages of this flu this week, we'll be loping this weekend. So far at 2! leg yields, side pass, back, pivot on the fore end, can get her to rate her walks and trots.. and with a head set. Does walk overs and trot overs.. and yesterday I actually made it through a proper gate opening and closing on her. ;) I can lean in the saddle to work and she'll stay put if told to. Not perfect.. but this baby is astonishing! :) Very simple trick with her.. don't yank, don't bang on her.. NONE of the old style stuff since it upsets her. Talk to her.. scold her if you have to.. or just out think her. I'm convinced as more I work at not letting her get into the position of getting upset.. the less prone this kid will be to getting upset and/or high. :) Oh, sorry but I've been fairly sick.. no bathes.. no pics. :( BK --- DB A3000sl/001347 * Origin: * Conniption BBS * one fit at a time (1:102/861) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: EES00002 Date: 10/22/97 From: MIKE MAY Time: 05:32am \/To: BOB KOHL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: assorted -> Ahh be very careful hoss.. as someone with a screwed up knee I can tell ou -> that they're no fun. :/ Well I am still walking on it. It was really bad (the worst) on Sunday. > Been getting progressivly better since. Welll back in 78 I was practicing for the "Cooper Assualt", it's a combat pistol match where you shoot, then run and jump over a 6' wall and go on with the rest of the course.. Hung a foot up going over the wall and when I landed it was properly on my right leg.. but on my left knee.. hurt like the devil but I could walk on it.. so I didn't think that much of it. Over the course of the next week.. it got worse. Turned out I'd shattered the top of my tibula and ended up in a cast for as long as they could keep it on without endangering the knee joint. After the cast was on.. it REALLY started to hurt. Take care o dem knees bud! ;) BK --- DB A3000sl/001347 * Origin: * Conniption BBS * one fit at a time (1:102/861) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: EES00005 Date: 10/23/97 From: BOB KOHL Time: 04:05am \/To: MIKE MAY (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: ???? > -> > It depends here on the state.
