Even with all of the belly achin I used to do about the shows I guess I did enjoy them. I do like kids. We went with Niki and her RIT Equestrian Team yesterday to a Fjord farm about an hour away from us. Julia (the Fjord farm owner) let the team borrow about 6 of her horses to use for a trail ride. They used it for a fun raiser. They got pledges of $ per mile type of thing and then went and had a ball! They ended up with 12 horses on the ride all fjords except one brown TB and a palomino color quarter horse. --- PCBoard (R) v15.3/M 2 * Origin: Home of Malla, the spoiled Norwegian Fjord (1:2613/128) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: EDZ00006 Date: 09/29/97 From: MIKE MAY Time: 05:43am \/To: JEAN PROPHET (Read 1 times) Subj: New Carriage .. -> Just bought a new carriage -- It's one of those Victorian Carriages they -> call them Vis-a-v) ...... Please let us know how it went. Wonderful is just what it was. Despite high winds on two days, rain one night and one day, and bitch-cold another night. We had a grand old time, Sheriff (the dog) would run for a shorter stretch with us in the morning, then stay with my wife in camp and Shemmeek and I would go for a longer ride. He was good as gold all through. We clocked in about 80+ miles or during the week. Most of the time we had the site to ourselves, and Shemmeek kept close to the camper. But when some other horses came to the next corral, he moved right over to that other end, though he would still come to talk to us. All in all, a nice holiday. This Saturday comes the last 25-mile endurance ride for this year, this time right near home. People > actually congratulate > each other for doing well (and actually mean it too). Isn't that interesting -- Buddy and I found the people to be VERY nice and helpful. Most were our age but there were a few younger ...... it was like a little family reunion (and I didn't know anyone there but most of the rest had been to this charity show for several years now as it is an annual thing). I'm talking about the ones in the driving classes now -- I'm sure that there were lots of nice people there but we only were really around the driving ones. After the classes we were like in a little group - laughing, congratulating, helping each other with what might have gone wrong ...... and there was the judge chiming in with what what make this better etc. OH yea -- the judge had the announcer say over the PA system "THANK YOU and this was a VERY nice Class"!! I was truly amazed at the conradary (sp) ..... it was nice and refreshing to say for sure!!! --- * Origin: Home of Mr X's 'XTRAORDINARY CARRIAGE SERVICES!
