Sounds like you've got a good case of new Man you want to talk about kickers? There's a bunch at the barn, including an Appie, an Arab mare (I'd love to work with), a Saddlbred mare, at least one TB mare and at least 4-5 others.. :( None get out enough, none get worked enough. However if you want to laugh, there's a gal that is now coming out to ride that Arab Stud. She's NOT a stud handler and has managed to tick off aLOT of people with her behavior with that Stallion (Luckily he's a good one). Ahh I've taken her under my wing.. but she's going to get read the riot act the first time she doesn't behave.. I'm getting tired of wasting my time. You are paying their Actually, we're not paying a stable hand's salary because their ain't one. :-) The owner's do all the work. Of all the stables we've visited..and that has been almost all in the area, Silver Creek Farms is by far the most "professional" in their approach. That might also explain the nearly 2 year waiting list to get in there. We actually came up on that waiting list about 4 years ago. They had 2 stalls open up and we almost moved Smokey and my Appy, Bo there. We decided not to, and that is a decision that I would like to have back. If I had moved them, it is very likely that I'd still have Bo. I'll never find another horse like that guy. We had an instant rapport. I think he knew that I don't see well because he always took care of me. On trail rides, i could let him make a lot of the decisions because I knew I could trust him completely. One year, we were "outriders" at an event..we would ride around to the Cross Country judges to pick up score sheets. I rode Bo in just a jumping hackamore..no bit. All these idiot Thoroughbreds were going nuts with the activity and kids..Bo was calm and assured. :-) The owner of Silver Creek is a cutting horse type of guy and we've watched him work his top cutting horse, Baldy. It's amazing to watch. We are seriously looking into Genesee Valley Morgans and will be visiting them this weekend. They're in Avon, about a mile from where Smokey is now. They have more flexible boarding "plans" and I think Smokey will like the place. We drove by the other day to kind of see what the fencing and pastures look like and they look very nice. It is very likely that Smokey will be moving by the end of the month unless our visit on Saturday turns up something really negative.
