I BK :>think even Tellington mentions this somewhere.. Aside from BK :>being important to showing.. shrug. I guess that makes sense.....if a horse's head is up, it means their back is not rounded or relaxed. I suppose you could say that you're training her to "relax" under saddle. Probably better to teach her the correct thing than to have to undo a bad habit later on. Just a little concerned that all those baby bones and muscles might not be ready for the strain...except it sounds like you're going real easy with this. (And, I forget she's not a real baby anymore!) My friend is considering showing her yearling in lunge classes. Isn't this something new in the QH world? Duh...open Western mares in hand....not pleasure....She did Palominos in hand, open horse colts and fillys, and open Western mares in hand. Did much better in the color class then the other two. Yep. :) > Just a little concerned > that all those baby bones and muscles might not be ready for the > strain...except it sounds like you're going real easy with this. (And, I > forget she's not a real baby anymore!) Well I was thinking about this tonight since I realise the amount of time it's been since I started her and where I am at the moment. I haven't really accomplished a lot on her for a lot of reasons.. including not wanted to scramble her mentally of physically. Not feeling physically up to getting hurt or rodeo'ing.. etc etc etc. I really need to focus and start moving forward seriously. I haven't had any specific goals to accokplish when I've gotten on her. I need to start setting some simple goals for each ride. > My friend is considering showing her yearling in lunge classes. Isn't > this something new in the QH world? Nope.. been around for some time now. I don't believe that they were "official" for some years.. not sure if they are right now yet. Shrug.
