Last weekend our daughter, Jessica came to visit -- it was nice seeing er and we had a lovely weekend together. We rode Saturday AND Sunday ....... Jess rode X -- I rode Shammie. Jess and X hit it off together right away!! And she looked so nice riding him too! But the SURPRISE came on Tuesday ...... Debbie, George and Mathew (our daughter and family from Charleston, SC) came to visit ..... they also had brought along a young cousin Mathew's age (Mathew is almost 13 yrs old). After I got home from work Debbie and I went for a ride (Buddy had taken everyone for a carriage ride in the afternoon) and Mathew and Eric (the cousin) rode Tuffy in the round pen (Debbie and I went off down the street). Meg ..... I want to tell you -- I was soooooo proud of X ..... remember, last weekend Jess rode him ..... on Tues. Debbie rode him ...... then MATHEW rode him when Debbie and I got back from our ride (I usually ride Sham as she's used to me)........ Now for the PROUD part of X .... listen, that little guy has NEVER been pulled around - NOR kicked ..... Mathew was good on X but nonetheles, he's a kid -- and kids tend to pull on a horses mouth and kick them ..... X just did what he though Mathew wanted him to do -- no problem. Mathew even loped X (something *I* haven't done since I got hurt) and X just loped along ..... when Mathew pulled back on the reins, X stopped on a dime ..... I can honestly say that X appears to be a BOMB PROOF horse!!!!! Those kind are far and few between for sure!! It really made me proud of X (even if *I* was 'chumping at the bit' the entire time Mathew was riding X ;-(. For such a young horse X seems to be capable of doing it all....... what a horse !!! You TOLD me I had a gem here .... YOU knew it all along .... just took ME a little time to figure it out !! --- * Origin: Home is Where the Horses Are!! Meg asks: > WHERE IS EVERYBODY???? > > Megius Messagelessus I'm still here; just haven't had time to write much. I can tell you, though, that something is rotten in Fidonet. I am persistently getting replies to messages before the originals. Like Jean said, the replies come in but the originals don't -- except that maybe Jean didn't wait long enough. I got stuff from Vicki *today* -- orignials for which I'd seen the replies maybe half a week ago or more. This stinks. It's bad enough when the replies come first and the originals are in the end of the same day's mail or in the next day's mail, so you end up reading everything twice or three times to get a sense of a conversation in the proper order. But when they come in days or weeks apart, it's nearly impossible to have any kind of conversation. I'll leave it to Bob to say what we can do about it, if anything. Quoting whole messages when we reply (so that folks who haven't gotten the original yet can see it) is cumbersome, and besides it only works for the first two messages in a thread. After that, we're going to run up against the Fido message limits. Anyhow, I'm frustrated as you-know-what, and it's one of the reasons you haven't heard much from me lately. Hope you are all enjoying the rest of the 4th of July weekend. --- Opus-CBCS 1.73a * Origin: Sci-Fido II, World's Oldest SF BBS, Berkeley, CA (1:161/84.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: EBC00006 Date: 07/07/97 From: MIKE MAY Time: 05:44am \/To: BOB KOHL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: hello?? -> There is however another BB coming online.
