Well first not so good ride the other day.. got on her when I probably should have lunged her a bit.. Lot's of I don't want to.. tried to rear twice.. didn't get very far.. but I knocked the ash off my cigerette one the second one.. so there I was flaying away to get the ash off sitting on her.. chuckle.. Took her back into the round pen today for a touch.. going to step back and clean up some stuff.. She was tired today. Turned her out and when she went to roll.. she just decided to sun herself.. so I walked over and laid down and leaned up against her.. like we used to when she was a baby. Had to laugh.. I was browsing an article about babies and it was talking about using a creep feeder to get oats in the babies.. we couldn't.. CJ could get the oats out of the creep feeder... ;) BK --- DB A3000sl/001347 * Origin: * Conniption BBS * one fit at a time (1:102/861) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E5V00001 Date: 05/25/97 From: MEG ALFONI Time: 08:53am \/To: BOB KOHL (Read 0 times) Subj: Re: Da Tush strikes back BK :>Da Tush is at it again.. And, she's starting to put on weight again...grrr. Of course the fact that she gets almost no exercise could be the problem (g). She's down to literally a handful of grain and just grass hay...I don't know where the weight comes from! The groom part, I mean. ;-) Well, we didn't go...just as well...she blew a ball joint on her truck the day that she would have trucked to the show. Someone up there was watching out for her! If she does show again, though, I'll go. JM :>2) Fiddle's never been in a trailer. JM :> JM :>This is more promising. No, you really don't want to be JM :>hauling Fid off to show when she's not properly JM :>trailer-wise. Do you really, really want to get into the JM :>"you WILL get into this trailer" battle with Fiddle because JM :>you MUST get her into the trailer because you've already JM :>signed up for the class and if you don't go you'll lose all JM :>the money you shelled out for entry fees and make a fool JM :>out of yourself in front of (or not in front of) all the JM :>people who know you had planned to show that weekend? I have no intention of even thinking about showing Fiddle until she's totally ready in all respects! Trailering comes first, then learning to deal with many horses in one area, etc. If I ever DO show her, she'll be ready as I can make her, you can bet! JM :>See above. Do you want to mess up Fid's training because JM :>you're under a show deadline? See above (g)! JM :>Just focus on what Fiddle needs to know. You can worry JM :>about whether you want to show off what she knows *after* JM :>she knows it. Exactly! I have no real plans to show her...was just going through a spring case of "haven't shown in years" syndrome. I barely have time to ride her at all, let alone prepare her for shows! And with lessons starting again full tilt next week, God only knows when I'll get around to any of this stuff. I think she's destined to be a backyard horse all her life...guess there are worse things. She's happy! If he's not right (and he's never wrong), then I am (and I'm never wrong either!).. JM :>Ah, Meg, then YOU are the person to ask the question that JM :>has been bothering me for years. JM :> JM :>If nobody makes size 6 men's shoes, then what do boys do JM :>when they need at man's 6 shoe? You know, I had the same problem with both my boys. There was always a period of time when they were out of the large boys' sizes and should have worn small mens...and there were never any size 6's-7's in the shoes they liked. I think some shoe manufacturer could clean up if they made an in-style shoe or sneaker in those sizes. I guess we just did what we could with the smaller mens for a while. JM :>I'm a big fan of Lee Jeans' Relaxed Rider cut, which has a JM :>rather fitted waist and flat rear end and tapered legs but JM :>is loose through the thighs. The only thing that would JM :>make them perfect is to be able to choose the inseam JM :>lenghts as in men's jeans. They are made of 15 oz denim. JM :>There's only one pair of jeans I've been able to find that JM :>fit better (from No Excuses, of all people). I might have a problem with the "fitted waist" part (g). Seems my waist went more and more south with the birth of each kid! JM :>But watch out, because men's clothing is slowly going the JM :>way women's clothing has -- with short, medium, and long JM :>inseams. Grrrr. Oh NOOOOOO!!!!! JM :>Ditto. I have squarish shoulders and a lot of women's JM :>T-shirts are too short in the sleeves because of it. And a JM :>lot of women's T-shirts are made to wear outside, not tuck JM :>in, and won't stay tucked in for anything. I especially I don't tuck...and most women's T-shirts are too short to wear outside. I like 'em long! And, again, men's t-shirts seem to be made a little tougher. JM :>Now everybody's going to start making 'butch women' jokes, JM :>but heck, who needs their clothes to fall apart after half JM :>a year! Let 'em joke! At least my clothes last a little longer and are comfortable..other than that, I really don't care! I gave up worrying about style and fashion when size 12's didn't fit anymore (VBG). We went to the NY State Breeders show last Saturday in Syracuse NY. It is a week long show with entries from almost any breed you can imagine. Usually the show days run from 7am til midnight at least! Anyway a few years ago we convinced them to add some classes for us Fjord owners. I think the first year we went there were like 4 horses there. This year we had 18-20 horses show up. We had some entries from Ontario Canada, Vermont, NH, Mass, & Maine as well as NY. We really had a good time with all of these people. They are all friends just getting together to have some n. Malla & Niki took 1st in Western Pleasure (first year we had a western lass). They took 2nd in English Pleasure (should have been first, the one that did get first walked all the way down one side of the ring when she was supposed to e cantering. The judge never saw it though). They also took 2nd in the "Fjord crossrail" class. Not too many people jump their fjords so they don't have a real jumping class. Some other news on Niki too. She just started working at Kodak this last monday. It is a coop position for her college course in Environmental Management. She only has 1 more quarter of classes left now. If she can do all of her remaining coops at Kodak she will be all set to graduate a year from now.
