I wish I'd had a piece of that. ;) Going to take some time to let her get used to carrying the weight again. Last night was two short rides.. got off and walked across the arena to do something.. and rode her back again. :) Lord I love a horse that understands the word "no". :) BK --- DB A3000sl/001347 * Origin: * Conniption BBS * one fit at a time (1:102/861) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E5E00000 Date: 05/04/97 From: KARIN BREWER Time: 05:49pm \/To: BOB KOHL (Read 0 times) Subj: spring???? -> >>>>> I'd guess, especially with the volcano erupting in LA last Frid -> >>>>> :) -> >>>> -> >>>> Ahh I'm in there somewhere in the shots around Beverly Center. : -> >> -> >> -> >>> Oh, and how would one identify you? -> >> -> >> -> >> I'm the good looking one. :) -> -> -> > Gee, I saw that scene, and didn't see ANYBODY with a halo hovering -> > over his head, nor an equine in sight. :) -> -> -> Let's save the halo's for St Bodger the pious.. ;) -> ROFL... How can one tell a mare is pregnant besides the obvious? A friend of mine bought a mare which is supposed to be pregnant but is not showing signs. My friend is worried he got suckered and the mare was just fat and is actually dry. Is a vet the only way to go to tell? The mare was bought based on the fact of her being pregnant as she can not be ridden due to bad leg problems. Anyone else out there who might have gone through the same please give me your advice. thank-you so much Mr. Kohl for your time. tj --- SLMR 2.1a "My brain is trying to kill me." Well "technically" they could have bred her.. she "could have taken", possibly confirmed by an ultrasound by the vet (the best way)... and then she absorded the fetus.. it's happened to me. > Is a vet the only way to go to tell? depending on how far along.. yes. If she comes into heat and can be teased by a stud or a gelding that will do it.. and shows all proper signs of submission.. she's quite probably open. Again.. all things depending.. the vet is the best way. He can palpate her. > The mare was bought based on the fact > of her being pregnant as she can not be ridden due to > bad leg problems. Hi! It's me! I know that Mike has been trying to call me and every time I remember to call him it's way too late because of the time difference. I have had no computer because despite the fact that there are any number of three-pronged receptacles in the house, NONE of them are GROUNDED. And the terminal outlet strip that I have SCREAMS at me because of the improper wiring. So I bought an outlet strip that doesn't have an alarm. Anyway, I am all moved into the house - it has been WONDERFUL. Despite the drawbacks (I need to get started on re-wiring, etc.), it is nice to have the horses here. It is GREAT to get up in the morning and feed the horses, and go out to say good night to them every night. I'd like to stay a while longer, but I just got company and it's probably rude to type and write messages while you are entertaining! I PROMISE I will be back. I met probably 15 or 20 horse people in the neighborhood already; a friend of mine said that if I wanted to meet them, drive Spot around in the Meadowbrook and they would come out of the woodwork. They did. It's AMAZING how many horse people and horses there are around here; Mike, my house is less than two miles from the hotel where your family stayed. I drove Spot around one afternoon and gave rides to anyone who wanted them, and it WASN'T all kids! Two weeks ago the stirrup clip on my synthetic dressage saddle broke - does anyone know if a Wintec can be reapired and if so by whom? It seems like a waste. I joined the Arizona Dressage Association and it was not a good time to be without a saddle, so I bought a Miller Collegiate. I lucked out, it fit Dub, me, AND Kathryn Blackhawk, a trainer whom Mrs. Braswell trained. I have her polishing up Dub for me. I know it's not right, but this time of the year I have no spare time. And the houses are a lot of work, but I LOVE it! I actually even have CHICKENS! Anyway, gotta get with my company. BYE FOR NOW! She's got a nasty stone bruise on the sole of her right, front foot. I've been soaking it in Epsom salts and hot/warm water for about a week now. It's starting to heal, but this is the pits!~ Has put the whole riding program on hold. Anyone dealt with one of these before? Hey, Meg, I saw an envelope with your return address on it the day that I had some people come and clean both houses - cleaning isn't my forte so it was easier to have someone come in. Anyway, it got moved and now I can't find it but I will continue looking for it. I am NOT ignoring it! Right now, my neighbor across the street is riding Spot - she has a Russian Arab gelding with quite an attitude so it is a treat for her to be able to ride a horse you can almost fall asleep on. She also gives her kids rides when she is done - I was tickled pink last week to see Spot being led around with FOUR KIDS on her back! Yep - don't worry. MY homeowners' insurance includes $300,000 liability on EACH horse. Dub never leaves the property unless either I am on him or the trainer is working with him. Speaking of whom, he is looking really good - I think a LOT of it is Kathryn's damn LONG LEGS! She not only is a terrific trainer (taught by Mrs. Braswell) but has long enough legs that she looks elegant on him. She's got him working so well I am almost afraid to ride him. How are your two wild ones doing? Is it getting warm enough to ride et? It's already hit 100 degrees here. although intermittently we get days on end in the seventies and eighties. More later - is something wrong with our feed or is the traffic down? --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: The Union Jack BBS, Phoenix, AZ, USA. 602-274-9921 (1:114/260) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E5I00000 Date: 05/13/97 From: MIKE MAY Time: 05:42am \/To: VICKI NICHOLS (Read 0 times) Subj: I hope I'm back! -> Hi!
