Don't tease me. Anyways, I found out why Zoltrix modems are cheap... not the quality of the product, it's actually good. But the 4-page technical manual really sucks and the support is non-exist- ant, even on the web! So I have the Zoltrix MD-ZOL336-ACF/MP internal modem (Voice/Data/Fax). I made a basic INIT string for it in my terminal program but I was curious if any one of you Data Comunication GURUs would supply me with a correct INIT string for my modem? I enjoyed the fact that my plain 14.4 USR Sporster INIT was just AT&F1 and all the Error Correction and Data Compression was all fired up and ready! It's no so with this Zoltrix. Any ideas? Since you understand how to translate the ATI6 info (I don't), before resetting the modem, ATI11 will provide additional call specific info. You might also try any of ATY8, ATY7 and/or ATY11 (Y11 returns frequency and level info). I have a Courier external V.all/X2 and have only been able to get the Y7 command to provide info when issued in command mode otherwise; the modem responds with error. ATY7 info returns as: Signal Quality = B9E1 Signal Level = 4D48 Amplitude Error = 0028 Phase Error = 7FCC Gain Hits = 0000 Timing Offset = C570 Carrier Offset = FEF6 OK I've going round and round with USR since February trying to get a/any acceptable suggestion or a guess as to why I am frequently having signal quality problems when connected to a V.34+ Sportster on my IP's system (running MBBS, 71 lines/30 w/Sportsters). After relating stats from the ATI6 below one tech was adamant to the point of rudeness that the problem was unequivocally in my phone line but she was stifled to explain why these problems do not appear on any other connections I make. After talking to the sysop yesterday he finally tells me that the Sportsters he has (all) have bad chips in them (ROM I ASSume) and that USR is sending him replacement chips. Happen about 85% of all (Internet) calls and cps drops down to 12-15 ??
