I posted something a couple of days ago when nothing was coming in. I don't know if it ever got out. I'll wait a bit and if nobody replies, maybe I'll post it again. Will send note with more details of mechanics in netmail.... --- Opus-CBCS 1.73a * Origin: Sci-Fido II, World's Oldest SF BBS, Berkeley, CA (1:161/84.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E3C00007 Date: 03/06/97 From: JAN MURPHY Time: 10:05pm \/To: ALL (Read 1 times) Subj: new newsletter from John Lyons And just when I thought I had enough horse magazines.... In today's mail, I got a mailing from John Lyons about his new newsletter, THE PERFECT HORSE. If you've been a regular reader of the echo, then you pretty much know about John and what he can do with a horse; if you don't know his name already, then just ask Bob. ;-) From the looks of the stuff they have in the mailer, the newsletter will be pretty much like Michael Plumb's HORSE JOURNAL in looks and philosophy -- lots of good info on horsemanship and horse care without a lot of frills -- but with a good solid core of the training techniques that John is known for. Subscription price in this offer is 12 issues for $24.00, which is supposed to be half-off the usual price. It's the usual first issue free, then pay if you like it, or cancel. More details after I get my first issue, but in case you want to inquire: John Lyons' PERFECT HORSE PO Box 420016 Palm Coast, FL 32142-9112 Obligatory disclaimer: I have no connection to the magazine, just an information junkie. --- QM v1.31 * Origin: Sci-Fido II, World's Oldest SF BBS, Berkeley, CA (1:161/84.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E3C00008 Date: 03/07/97 From: MIKE MAY Time: 05:50am \/To: BOB SEABORN (Read 1 times) Subj: Well, -> Ok, I'm here. I hate to say this, but I know next to nothing about horses, except I just bought 2 1/2 of 'em for my 11 year old daughter. A Welsh/Appaloosa leopard mare, pregnant by a purebred quarterhorse, and a filly (from the same stud) who was born last August. My older daughter owns two quarterhorses, one 5 year old gelding, and one 3 year old mare. She's the one with the farm 10 miles west of where I live, which is where the horses are kept. .....Bob --- GEcho/32 & IM 2.50 * Origin: Further North - USR 33.6 x2 (306) 956-3383 (1:140/12.1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E3D00002 Date: 03/08/97 From: BOB KOHL Time: 12:16am \/To: ANGELA PATTEN (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: soon happenings! > abused horse =[ ... sounds like youve got a champion eh?? maybe you > could send me a picture in the real mail not e-mail??? let me know ok??? > i will see you later Well if you don't mind.. post your address (keeping in mind that this is a public echo) and I'm sure youd get not only some pictures of my girls, but some of the others would be happy to also. Just don't have a whole lot to say lately....pre-spring -> blahs, I think.... Whats pre-spring. Spring is in full swing here. They've let water in the irrigation canals, the trees are taking turns blooming, my daffadils(sp?) are through blooming and its been in the 70's several days. The bad thing is that we get to spend 2-3 hours a week trying to get the winter coat off Smokey. His hair fills a small wheelbarrow every time we use the sheding blade on him. The horses are really enjoying all the fresh green grass and we are limiting pasture time. I'm going to be getting my summer clothes out of storage this week I hope.
