This is a friendly echo, so let's keep it that way. No head banging, heavy debating, ego butting, breed bashing, flames, etc etc. Also understand that in any circumstance where the "moderator" is needed... the only person that is absolutely right is the "Moderator". 2) Enjoy! 3) Topic is horses.. any kind, any kind of riding or usage.. A serious note.. and please make an effort to stay on topic... ************************************** 4) We do get kids in the echo from time to time.. so let's keep this in mind, please post accordingly for their sake (keep it clean). 5) Remember to try and keep the messages under about 60 lines or so.. break the message into a two parter if you have to.. but since we always want to hear what you have to say... we'd prefer that the message doesn't get eaten.. ;) And don't periodically forget to change the subject line in keeping with the conversation. 6) This echo is dedicated to helping all people to become better riders and horsepeople. Let's try to get this goal across without suggesting things that put horse or rider at risk, since this is counter productive. I realise that this is kind of ambiguous.. please just do your best folks. Have I forgotten anything? Oh yes... say goodnight Gracie! BK P.S. Goodnight Gracie!! P.P.S. I had a beautiful Quarter Horse (named "Baby") who was diagnosed with EPM a few years ago. First of all it took several months before she was correctly diagnosed ..... then I treated her for months and MONTHS -- she never did fully recover and had several relapses -- of which we treated her again and again. I rode her when she was feeling good -- just petted and groomed her when she was doing poorly ...... Last February (1996) I rode her in our annual parade here in LaBelle -- that was the last time I was able to ride her ...... she passed away in June last year from colic. I truely loved this horse -- she was my favorite -- I still get teary eyed thinking about her. She was absolutely beautiful .... she stood 16.1 hands tall and had all 9 points of a Dun ...... her bloodlines were HOLLYWOOD GOLD. I have other horses - which I love - but none of them compare to "Baby" . --- * Origin: "Baby" - Gone But NOT Forgotten!! Not yet... as noted she's down at San Louie Rey and so far they've found some swelling putting preasure on the nerve bundles coming up through the poll or at least that's what I heard today. > Are her symptoms consistent with EMD? Some are.. some aren't.. > Can't believe in this day and age that someone > hasn't run this through a database search somewhere! Cripes, you can do > it right on the net! I've heard that both Cornell and UC-Davis are > online. They are.. but the actual datebase has a cost I believe. However given the quality of SLR, I'm sure that they're no only online.. but they also have suclear medicine to play with down there.. these are the folks that I was thinking of sending CJ to for diagnostic work up on her legs when the budget was a tad looser.. ;) > How about listing her symptoms again? Massive muscle loose in the hind quarters, trembling, a seizure like epsidoe where she spins until she hits somethnig and stops herself, Yellow gums, not sure of any other. > Any new ones? Any that are lessening? Well can't be sure.. the only person that really sees this horse most of the time is the stable owner.. and she's not exactly always honest or observant.. > Have they got bloodwork results yet? Yep.. preliminary work shows nothing. BK --- DB A3000sl/001347 * Origin: * Conniption BBS * one fit at a time (1:102/861)
