VN :>The pen must be a given distance, however (slips my mind) VN :>away from any neighboring dwellings. Here in our town you must have at least 1 acre to have horses. And your barn must be 50 ft from the house, 30 ft from the sidelot and 50 feet from the back lot line. We had to get a zoning variance when we built our barn as we wanted to set if only about 15 ft. from the sidelot. Luckily, our neighbors on that side are protected by a little hill, so they didn't mind that we built the barn closer than zoning required. (Of course that was before they got a wiff of horse manure for the first time :).) You can fence, however, right up to your lot line. Some towns around here require at least 1 acre per horse. The pen must be a given distance, however (slips my -> mind) away from any neighboring dwellings. Sort of what they did around here. The min before was 5 acres to have horses in Webster. Now they have made it 3 acres. But with that change they also increased the setbacks from the property lines that the fences or stables or manure piles or anything related to the horse can be. It is next to impossible to actually have a horse on 3 acres and still have a house on it too. --- PCBoard (R) v15.3/M 2 * Origin: Home of Malla, the spoiled Norwegian Fjord (1:2613/128) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: E2V00012 Date: 02/25/97 From: MIKE MAY Time: 05:50am \/To: BOB KOHL (Read 1 times) Subj: Re: an interesting aftern -> > Alright!
