The canal banks in the Valley here -> were designated an official horse trail by Ronald Reagan. We don't care whether they are horse trails or not most of us ride along them. I don't because I don't want to ride alone off the property and David's horse would probably go ballistic. She is just getting so she feels secure and we don't want to upset things when they are going pretty good. She still has a long way to go before we try it. It took her a long time to learn to trust us. She has taken to jumping imaginary jumps when we lunge her. She is doing what we want then throws in a little jump then looks at us then continues with what she is suppose to be doing. I think its kinda funny and I expect that when it gets warmer and when she is getting more work she will stop. Yep, I know and I wasn't happy about it.. however in all fairness I think that this might not be the place to air the "Dean" stuff... Suggest you shop price, or.. suggest when I get over there for interview that I set you up with a BBS so you'll have netmail. Remember I still get corporate pricing on that stuff. CJ does far better warmer then colder.. But then she is one hot momma! Wish I had the bucks to rebreed this year.. :/. Ah well next year. X didn't get upset with the commotion, noise, kids, ballons, fire trucks and/or sirens or floats ....... he DID, however, get a wee bit upset with the bands (the boom, boom BOOM of the drums) but he didn't so anything stupid ..... all he did was kinda' throw his head around - letting us KNOW he did NOT LIKE those noises. However, after the parade got started and we were actully rolling along in the parade, X was fine -- no problems whatsoever. In fact, we were behind several horse and riders who were directly behind a fire truck (with sirens going the entire parade route) ....... X didn't even pay any attention to them. He "walked on" when commanded to ..... he "whoaed" when told to (and that was the entire parade route). X acted like it was a typical day ride at home ......... what a trouper!! All in all it was a very seccussful venture - everyone LOVED the horse and carriage ...... lots of people clapping and many groups even standing and clapping (what a rush !!!) Buddy had cleaned our "Sunday-go-to-meetin'" carriage up until it absolutely SHINED ...... he had also worked on the harness all week .... the brass sparkled and the leather was black and shiney like new. We were are dressed in "period custume" ....... Buddy in a western type suit and me in a long black skirt, white long sleeved lacy blouse and a "Gibson girl" type hat (feathers and all ). Soooooooo, now we have 1 parade under our belts .... and, I was very, VERY pleased at how well behaved X was!! Just thought I'd let ya'll know how it went. --- * Origin: Home is Where the Horses Are!!
