Well I'm getting concerned again.. yesterday she overdid it on turn out then when I went to work with her.. she needed to let off some steam.. however the knee got ouchy again.. I did some very light work with her tonight.. but there was still some warmth to the knee.. going to call the vet. > BK :>Saddling for Tush coming very soon.. she doesn't mind > BK :>having the saddle on.. so I think I'm going to sneak up on > BK :>her with it as soon as we get back into a serious work > BK :>routine. > Don't sneak (g)! She's been saddled and cinched.. but I haven't gotten on her at all till we're cleared with the knee. In fact I had her wandering around the small pen with the saddle on.. she only looked at it once. Already? Phew! If mine were shedding, they'd be sorry! -> It's been really cold/windy here again. With a little snow. Neither -> of these horses grows a really wooly coat...I thought Shiloh might, -> but guess not. I made the mistake of wearing a long sleeve shirt out to the barn today. It was in the 70's today with lots of sun. We spent quite a bit of time useing a shedding blade. One of the women out at the barn gave her horse a bath. I'm going to pay for the amount of time I spent riding the last 2 days tommorrow and the next day. It was WONDERFUL riding weather and the ground was dry enough on the ranch in most places that we didn't have to worry about footing. The horses seemed to really enjoy getting out too. Soapbox mode off. They put up some big stalls/pens out at the barn this weekend for some of the bigger horses. They look like they are about 12' x 24' and half covered and half full. Writing for the school > paper, both > print and web, every week keeps me pretty gosh-darned busy. Journalism? Not bad. When you win the Pulitzer, we can all say "ah but we knew him when...." I continue to subscribe to too many horse magazines, and lurk here on the echo, instead of doing something useful like really taking riding lessons. You know you've subscribed to too many horse magazines when you start getting a bazillion letters asking you to subscribe to magazine A (which you already get), which obviously came from being on magazine B's mailing list, and vice versa. So what kind of writing tickles your fancy the most? Journalism can be one of the most interesting things going. If you're doing feature articles, for instance, you have an automatic excuse to do any kind of research you want, and an in to talk to all sorts of fascinating people. It's amazing what people will tell you if you say you're writing an article on something. Only actors have it better, because they sometimes get to hang out with their subjects for months on end. On the other hand, most of the journalists I tend to meet are the guys who want to come in, pick my brain, and have me tell them all the stuff they need for their article, with hardly so much as a thank you. I dislike being pumped for information for an article somebody else is going to get paid for. If I have to hold their hands and tell them the whole article's worth of stuff, and they can't be bothered to do a lick of research on their own, then why isn't the editor paying me? So don't you be like that. Before you go in to interview somebody, be sure to do your homework.
