MA> Well, if it isn't the Duttster! What a flash from the past! Yep... it's been a while, that's for sure. MA> Well, that's disgusting! You must, at some time in your life, get MA> back to it! I absolutely intend to... if I'm not yet so out of shape that I can never go back. ;-) Nah, as soon as my life's in order and I have some free time, I'm getting back into riding. I miss it like crazy, and I'm already dreading spending a lot of time relearning what I thought I knew... MA> Glad to hear it! You always did have a certain special way of MA> expressing yourself (g). And I wonder if Bob has ever forgiven me for it? ;-) MA> Seems only appropriate to me that you'd head in the writing direction. MA> Good for you! And glad to hear things are going so well! Thanks... it's most enjoyable, actually. I thought I'd be a little too reserved for it, but i'm adapting nicely. MA> Can't remember where we left off...Thistle passed away two years ago MA> come spring. Fiddle is now 5! Sort of green broke..don't really MA> spend the time with her that I should. She walks, trots, canters, but MA> nothing fancy mind you. Sorry to hear about Thistle... I think Mike may have mentioned that to me one time when we were talking. And as for Fids, I'm sure she'll come along just famously... as long as you keep the clicky thing out of her face. MA> Have a new horse...an Appy mare (9) called Shiloh whom I use for a MA> small riding program for at-risk girls. She's a sweety, but shows the MA> occasional Appy 'tude! Sounds like a good idea, the program that is. And hey... what would an appy be without an attitude? MA> occasional Appy 'tude! Other than that...oh, yes,...the goats are MA> STILL with us and as enormous as always! Looking pretty old and MA> decrepit, but they hang in there! I think we've broken some kind of MA> record for goat age! WOO-HOO! Bloated-goat-mania!!!! Sorry... I just have a soft spot for them... they're sooooo cute! MA> Do you see Mike Bull at all? He's e-mailed me a couple of times, but MA> I never seem to get around to responding. Bad Meg! Every now and again. He's going to University of Guelph in some sort of bizarre System Management and Psychology program, and between that and his wondrously successful relationship, along with being with St. John's Ambulance and any other stuff I'm not aware of, he keeps pretty busy. Okay... actually *I* keep "pretty busy". Mike's insanely busy. ;-) MA> Well, in a nutshell, that's it! Hope you stick around..at least lurk MA> here once in a while. And, I hope you get back to riding in the near MA> future. Glad things are going well for you!! Keep up the good work! Will do, or at least will try to do, on all counts. ;-) MA> What's the website you do? Care to give us the address? The website *I* do? I do a wrestling-related site of my own, but it's not much. Mostly, if you're interested, you can check out http://sms.humberc.on.ca/etcetera.htm -- the home page for the Humber Et Cetera, the newspaper I'm working for at school. New edition out every Thursday, and while this week's version has nothing from me (I'm such a slacker!), next week's should have something, at least. I can usually be found under tech. Well we were back into the 70's here.. and Tush is still living in the barn which stays resonably warm.. Boy, I'll tell you after a day like today I'm really glad Tush was around.. I absolutely adore that kid. CJ also a crack up.. I brought her out and moved her around a bit.. and she looked stiff and sore.. so as I was cutting across the arena.. I got a hunch and decided to turn her loose.. Boy was she faking it! Yehaa! ;) Saddling for Tush coming very soon.. she doesn't mind having the saddle on.. so I think I'm going to sneak up on her with it as soon as we get back into a serious work routine. I had to wait till my kids were grown to afford my DT> first horse. I took my first riding lesson at Kettering about 20 to 30 DT> min from Landover. They had several arenas and the main trail was DT> several miles long through some beautiful countryside. I just started getting this echo. I've never been taught how to ride a horse, but have ridden bareback and was told then that I had a natural seat. I remember well when I was riding my uncle's horse he got the bit between his teeth and jumped a small stream(three feet from bank to bank) I was able to stay on his back while he jumped. It was my mom and aunt who had seen me riding him when he jumped again over a trench my uncle had dug in his front field, they said that I had a natural seat. Anyway I tried to call a local riding academy here in Southern Maryland only to find out that they moved to Hughsville. Going to have my husband find out if a woman who works at the ame hospital he does who breeds Morgans knows someone local who can teach me and one of my daughters to ride horses. We have hopes of one day of having our wn horses. I've wanted one since I was a kid. I'ld love to get a registered Paint. I'll love to be able to also get a pony for my youngest to ride. I've got two children both girls, one 15 and the other 2. The horse I rode at my uncles farm was half Paint and half Shetland Pony.
