Fiddle is now 5! Sort of green broke..don't really spend the time with her that I should. She walks, trots, canters, but nothing fancy mind you. Have a new horse...an Appy mare (9) called Shiloh whom I use for a small riding program for at-risk girls. She's a sweety, but shows the occasional Appy 'tude! Other than that...oh, yes,...the goats are STILL with us and as enormous as always! Looking pretty old and decrepit, but they hang in there! I think we've broken some kind of record for goat age! Got two new puppies last spring..Pete and Otis..they're a hoot! Terrier mixes from the local animal shelter. Still have the two cats. Do you see Mike Bull at all? He's e-mailed me a couple of times, but I never seem to get around to responding. Bad Meg! Well, in a nutshell, that's it! Hope you stick around..at least lurk here once in a while. And, I hope you get back to riding in the near future. Glad things are going well for you!! Keep up the good work! What's the website you do? Care to give us the address? Our weather hasn't really been that bad this -> winter. Not right here anyway. We have had some nasty stuff all -> around us though. I thought you weren't going any further north than LA. How near were you? You people are still shivering and I'm working like mad to get rid of the weeds in the front flower garden, the almonds are blossomming and my daffodils are getting ready to bloom and its not even February yet. The horses are starting to shed like crazy too and the pasture is starting to turn green. I think winter is over, now if the rain would just quit. Pun the expression, killing two birds with one stone........ I was easy to break Smokey of pawing when he is tied up now I want to break him of pawing holes in his stall and the same method won't work. The way to avoid (but you -> can never TOTALLY prevent) stall vices is turnout and more turnout -> and more work. Pawing, weaving, wood chewing, etc. are all the end -> result of boredom. Well he has a very low threshold of boredome. He has a jug with rocks and another with a few bits of dried apples and alfalfa pellets in it. The second one is his favorite till he either gets the contents out or tear a hole in it. He had an apple but he broke it. He also has a orange traffic cone and had a ball. The dogs kept stealing that. So I guess I'm stuck with him pawing in his stall. -> grooming and working time, etc. Even then, there's no guarantee they -> won't develop a bad habit of some kind. Some horses do, some don't. -> Fiddle has a bunch (g), and Shiloh has none.....go figure! Fiddle's -> and Arab and Shiloh's an Appyl....might be a clue in there somewhere -> (VBG). Hmmmm? Imbri doesn't have any either and shes an appy, Smokey is a QH and only has a couple and the Arab across from Smokey is a bad habit. I'm convinced that they teach each other their bad habits when we're not watching but I've noticed that they never teach each other their good habits. Well hello there, I hope to have 'my'mother and daughter team back together by April. BK> Yep, driving Tush as much as possible also. What kind of driving do you do? I bought a race training harness and then a jog cart, then was told that the harness wasn't such a good idea. It doesn't have breeching and the traces only go 3/4 of the way back. I have taken him out a few times and didn't have a problem. I did have to make extensions for the loops (shafts go through) as the shafts were too high and the reins kept getting caught. I guess race horses don't turn much . BK> 21 is a tad aged to breed.. we tend to ease off when BK> they start getting up into the high teens. She has already had 5 foals and we thought about breeding her back morgan, but the foal wouldn't be registered. Our farrier also told us what it was like to have a mare bleed out after foaling and I don't think I would want this to happen to her (she was my first horse). My daughter will start on her this year and also use her as her 4-H project. I was told as well that sometime between the time I lost her and where she is now that someone taught her to drive, so I will get to enjoy her as well. BK> Los Angeles, Ca. Long way from here. I had the vet back out last night ..... the "apples" are round and solid ..... but there's "juice" that will run down his back legs after he "squirts" then poops. The vet couldn't find anything wrong ...... she told me to give him ProBois (I'm familier with that as we gave it to our heiffer). She also "fussed" at me for stopping the psyllium.....She did take a sample of his manure back for testing though ..... today she called and said it was OK -- no worms nor sand. I started him on the ProBois tonight -- we'll see. --- * Origin: "Baby" - Gone But NOT Forgotten!! (1:371/33)
