Doesn't surprise me at all! She is my hero! If there's anyone who has done more for the backyard horseperson who's trying to train their horse themselves and wants to do it right, it's Lendon. I think if there was one horseperson in the world I'd like to meet, it would be her. I saw her ride once at a NEDA show, and she rode a little half-arab. And that was in the days when NO ONE rode Arabs in dressage! I loved her from that day on (g). Her column in PH is about the best there is. And of course, Mike Plumb rates right up there too! JP :> I was wondering if that was possible ..... he just JP :>doesn't SHOW any signs of being nervous (outward signs). JP :>That's why I ask the question.... Horse are like people...some internalize their fears, others act out. My vet always told me you were better off with a horse that showed it was nervous than one who didn't...same as us! JP :> I suppose I'm really panicky about colic now since what JP :>happened to "Baby"....I've stopped the psyllium ..... and, JP :>I'm only branning him when I bran everyone else (and that's JP :>once a week). I know the feeling!! After Thistle died, I was sure that every twitch Fiddle had was colic. I had the vet out more times than I can count for nothing. But I was so paranoid after what we'd been through. JP :> Manure in his stall looks good (sometimes smells to JP :>high heaven though)....this runny stuff only seems to JP :>happen after we get going -- either driving (and only Buddy JP :>drives him) and riding (and, only *I* ride him). Hmmm...that smelly manure isn't a really good sign either. Means things are'nt digesting the way they should or that he's showing signs of nerves even in his stall. What are you feeding him? Has anything changed? Richer hay, etc.? JP :> It seems to be getting better now though ..... last few JP :>sessions his poop seemed more like normal ..... maybe he JP :>was just nervous for a little while ...... *I* have relaxed JP :>so maybe HE relaxed ..... whatcha' think?? Of course that I think that's a good thing! JP :>so maybe HE relaxed ..... whatcha' think?? Of course that JP :>doesn't count when you figure he was doing it when Buddy JP :>was driving him (but, it didn't happen last night at all JP :>when we took him for a drive). This is interesting! How long was this going on? If it's stopped this quickly, maybe I was wrong (God forbid!). It might have been something you were feeding him. Whatever it was, if it's gone now, then whatever you've done was right (g). JP :> You might have hit the nail on the head, Meg -- like I JP :>said, since I've calmed down, he has too.....the more I JP :>ride him, the more confident I've become. Glad to hear it!
