There was a picture in the Ft Myers NewsPress of a lady who is going to be 99 years old soon -- she still rides a horse at least once a week .... (hey, that lady looked really GOOD too!!!) Anyway, when she was in her fifties she was still jumping in competitions ..... her favorite horse is buried in her front yard (and she speaks very reverntly about her). See, we .... ahhhhhhh ....... ahhemmmmmm.... "more expierenced riders" (didn't want to use the term 'older riders') can still do it ..... heck, if that lady at 99 yrs old can still ride, *I* have LOTS of time to "putz" around on my horses !!! --- * Origin: A Woman's Place Is On A Horse!!! Well, from my experience with Fiddle, I think it's a good idea to have them checked at about 2. She had a couple of retained caps that were a problem, as well as her wolf teeth, which had to come out. I'm sure it depends on the horse, but I'd be on the safe side. Especially if you've got a horse showing any signs of trouble at all. Don't want to be bitting up a baby who's got mouth pain! And, if you have someone who knows how to do it right, you can acclimate the horse at a young age to having their mouth worked on. Nope -- I don't seem to have that problem at all with X ... I LOOKED for that to be a problem but it wasn't. Of course I use a lot of leg cues with X so maybe that's why I don't have those problems persa (but then I'm sure you use the leg cues too) ...... I've even been quite surprised when I put down the reins and rode with only leg and "seat" cues ...... he did great!! I DO believe that X would RATHER pull the carriage than be ridden though ...... it's like when I get the saddle out he looks and almost "groans" ....he must prefers the harness stuff. Don't get me wrong -- he's good under the saddle ..... he just seems to be much more calm and confident in harness ..... (again, that may be MY fault as I'm still a little nervous on him -- I'm getting better about it though ). --- * Origin: "Baby" - Gone But NOT Forgotten!! (1:371/33)
