I "excorized" Straw and ran out of Steam.. he was a tough -> ride today. I rode too. The covered arena has a nice windbreak on the west side so it wasn't too bad. The only problem I had was that Smokeys bridle is home being cleaned and I had to use the spare with the fat snaffle in it. One of us is not ready to work with him in the snaffle yet. He tried hanging his head, ignoring me etc. I hate riding at a trot with the horses head down between his knees and when I say stop I mean now not when it suits him. I felt like we had retrogressed 2 years. I spent the whole ride convincing him that just because I changed the bit doesn't put him in charge. My wrist and legs hurt for 2 days after that ride. I'm not use to having to ride him that way anymore. Still too darn high. They let 8 vertical feet of water out of the lakes daily but 11 is coming in. The spillway at Don Pedro which is just for emergencies and never suppose to be used has got enough water flowing over it to make a good size creek. About 20' across and over a foot deep according to my parents. I normally hate cold but I wish it would get cold so the water in the mountains would freeze and stay there. I don't know how to find the artwork but I have the program. He shouldn't charge me much, if anything, as I gave him his first engraver. It was 20 years old, an old Hermes, now he's running stuff off Pentiums - but he couldn't have done it without the first one to finance these fancy ones. I gave it to him as it was either get rid of the engraving stuff or the computers. When we get a new place, I'm gonna get another engraver - this one computerized - and do license plate frames. Well if so I am not sure where it came from. I don't have any Norwegian roots. I do know what you mean about the ND people though, i was just talking to a women last night in ND (About Fjords of course) and she did have a pretty ood accent. I asked her how the weather was there and she said ohhh, not to9 bad now, it was really cold before but now it is only getting down to -20 at night!!! She also said her Fjords just love it. They have a place to come inside if they want to but she said usually they are just out playing in the snow and cold. Hope > to hear from you (especially any App lovers)? Thanks.... 1) Stones or Enteroliths come from mineral deposits not sand.. the problems endemic to Socal come from the mineral content in the water and in the Alfafa and the horse having a non-acidic PH level in the gut (can't remember the exact term). 2) The easiest way around this problem is the remove excessive amounts of minerals by a couple of means. Do not feed all alfafa.. feed half and half, alfafa and then maybe Oat the second feeding. There is a high quality four grain oat hay in Ca.. it's expensive but it really helps. Out your horse on a regular feeding of Pyllium Seed husk as noted by the label on the product and/or the advice of your vet. Mary's up in Del Mar carries several choices of this product. Personally I "Purge" my horses at least once seriously a month.. then I feed it to them twice a week in smaller amounts, especially my filly. You can also use a routine of feeding the horses Apple cider vineger.. I do, but the effectiveness of this is being debated. I've personally seen it work. BTW.. I have a stone my mare passed sitting here. It was passed after I radically changed her diet years ago.. and after I put her on Vineger.
