I'm kinda getting impatient on what she's going BK :>to look like when she stops growing.. I think this one will BK :>grow till she's 4 or 5. She's still a tad small. I'm still waiting to see what Fiddle's going to end up looking like (g). She still hasn't grayed out completely...still dark with dapples and dark legs and a whitish face...very wierd! She has brown spots on her face, so I think she'll be fleabitten gray and not dappled as I hoped. She's still growing, too, if her rump being higher than her front is any indication. Even the farrier thinks she still has growing to do! We'll see..don't know how long I'm going to have to wait! As for saddling her, I don't see any problem with that. She has to get used to is sometime (g). And if you think she's ready, I wouldn't even hesitate to get one her every once in a while. As long as you keep the sessions short and without any undue stress to her mind or bones (g). Sounds good to me. One of the hardest things I found was trying to keep Fiddle interested in the pre-backing stuff. I think I may have one of those horses who fit the description of having too small a mouth for a fat bit...however, this is a recent occurance, so who knows. I'll keep working on it, but would appreciate any suggestions from the peanut gallery! VN :> Hey, Meg, thanks for the hat! That was a great idea - VN :>HORSEPOWER! I will go to Mike's Hay Barn this weekend and VN :>send you a tube of the Cowboy Magic in trade, okay!? You don't need to do that!!!! I just wanted you to see the hat and enjoy it! And...it's HORSE POWER...with a space! The name was Richard's idea...he's soooo smart!! I was thinking along the lines of girl power or something inane like that, when he came up with the name. Next time around, I'll spring to have the computer stuff done to have it embroidered. Just wanted to get these quick and cheap for the girls for Christmas. They loved them. They looked so cute all working on the Christmas tree for the barn with their hats on! Now you have something to keep that hot, Arizona sun off your head (g)! BTW...I don't remember what the sun looks like..could you describe it for me (g)? However, I will not complain, having seen the devastation in the northwest and the Reno area. Cripes! Mother Nature has been working overtime over the past few years! I wonder if the Grand Canyon will be filled with water when Mike arrives! JP :>decided I want to ride him in the Trail class at the next JP :>show (and, maybe walk/trot too) so I figured I'd better get JP :>to work on him and do some practice sessions. Just take it slow, and go in without any expectations. More important for you two to have a calm, relaxed class than anything else! JP :>We even "practiced" with me riding (no hands-no reins) - JP :>just putting him through his paces with leg and voice JP :>commands. He did pretty good all things considering. This JP :>is really the first good workout EITHER of us have had in a JP :>long time. JP :> I'm feeling much better now - I'm trying to get over my JP :>"fear" but still am not ready to lope him yet. I may NEVER JP :>get over it totally - and, in that case we'll just walk and JP :>jog . My back is feeling better -- and, I've lost 22 JP :>pounds so far .... I'm determined to loose another 25 JP :>pounds. I'm wearing clothes now that were REALLY too tight JP :>when I was showing before ..... sure makes me feel good. WOW!!!! Way to go!!! The fact that you can ride him without reins just using voice and leg/seat aids is amazing! I think you're doing a whole lot better than you think you are! JP :>it slow and easy until I'm really comfortable. I miss JP :>"Baby" like crazy . I know the feeling. Don't know if you saw my post, but Richard gave me a headstone for Thistle's grave for Christmas. It's really pretty..pink granite with a horsehead and her name on it. I cried and cried when I opened it! It's on her grave now...we put it in the ground level with the grass so we can just mow right over it. It's really pretty and makes me feel good to have something permanent there. JP :>The next show is a week from Saturday (the 11th of Jan). JP :>We'll see what JP :>happens. Just take it slow and easy! Good luck and let me know how it goes!!
