Ya'll just can't imagine how BEAUTIFUL Mr X is pulling that carriage ....... and, when he TROTS -- WOW!!! He looks like he's been pulling this carriage forever now.....he's really gotten good at it. He's patient (stands really still when Buddy is getting in and out of the carriage - I still hold him but that's just a precatuion) ....... he waits to be ASKED to trot (doesn't rush things at all)..... walks really slow when asked to walk. *I* think he's definately ready for the parade. The only thing that might bother him is the little cars like the Shriners drive/ride. BUT, that may not even bother him after seeing that little go-cart the other day. As a one-time graduate student, may I give you a little JM> ahead and write Davis about their Vet Tech course NOW and ask them w JM> preparation they want for applicants to that program. The requireme JM> change by the time you are ready to apply, but Davis will know bette JM> *specific things* they want of an applicant than the counselors at y JM> College do. Thanks for the good advice, I will follow up with them, My nephew has a friend I believe who is a Vet tech major and I will try to get some information from her, Funny, I should have done this 15 years ago but I was too stupid then to know what I wanted to do with my life, I will agree with one thing the Community College Counselor said and that was that kids in Universities don't know what they are wanting. Thanks for the info. Hi Debby, DT> If you ever get a chance to come up this way and check out Linda's l DT> me know. The ranch is really nice. You know how brown the valley i DT> right now.The ranch is GREEN. You should see all the horses out at DT> pasture grazing. Its a really pretty sight. All of the boarder hor DT> get along pretty well, except for 2, so we put them all out together Well, my truck is running again, very well I met add imagine what a new engine can do??? So give me the info when you can, because I'd love to see it. It's pretty funny have I've developed a trust with the horses of my fiance's Mom's. There are four males-Andy & Kyle are the youngest then there is Blaze and Red who are much older. They use to avoid me except Andy now I drive up and they are all at the gate to greet me. It is really funny, Plus I had my head on my hands leaning on the gate to their pasture and Andy comes up and puts his head against my head, He didn't bite me or try to bite me like he use to, He just put his head up against my head. Then I was running my hand along his mane and he closed his eyes and just stood there. Then Red got jealous and bumped Andy so Andy walked off and then it was Red's turn, then Kyle's then Blaze. In the 2 years that I have been with John- Kyle and Blaze never came near me, Red has then Andy. Now Kyle and Blaze will come over to me. It is so funny. I don't know what brought about the change in them. Tell me what you think??? These trees are the only ones ar DT> that aren't part of an orchard. The ranch is called Rascal Slough a DT> the name is on the gate. Let me know if you're coming up this way a DT> I'll introduce you to my horses and maybe we could go for coffee or DT> something. Hi Jean, How are things on the Ranch?? I've been spending alot of time on the ranch of my Fiance's Mothers. JP> > boyfriend(now fiance's) mothers horses they are just JP> > beautiful and so JP> > friendly too, all males there is Andy, Red, Blaze, and JP> > Kyle. JP> JP> What kind of horses are they?? Well, I really don't know to tell you the truth but I'll ask and let you know, I could describe them. Both Red, and Andy are a RED or Rusty color with white over the hooves and on the front of their heads. Andy's mane is a lighter colored rust but almost looks bleached by the sun. Blaze is an older horse dark brown mostly with patches of grey. and Kyle is a brilliant brown and his coat just has a sheen to it plus the area over his hooves are black. I'll find out what kind. Sorry I don't have that info now. GC>Walkers in general make great trail horses if you want to GC>travel any distance and still be able to sit comfortable GC>the next day. I would rather ride 20 miles on a TWH than GC>one mile on a Arab (or 1/2 Arab). My body is too old for GC>all that "bounce". Bloodlines really do make a difference GC>in the horse as a whole, but I would rather ride our GC>"worst" TWH than most any other breed. About the only other GC>breed I would like to try would maybe be one of the Pasos. I'm reading old messages, so excuse the late reply. (I hope this one gets out! I'm feeling rather invisable these days!) I'd love to get an older steady TWH for my husband to ride so he can enjoy riding with me. He has a bad back and really hates the jarring he gets from a trot. Of course, if he learned to relax, he'd be jarred less! My 1/2 Arab 3 year old filly has a wonderful trot, though. She's so flexible and soft that you think you are floating on air! I don't sit her trot much, though. She's only been under saddle for 5 months. Her canter is like a carousel horse. Her "float time" is incredible and she's so easy to ride. So, even if I had a TWH, I'd ride my Phoenix. She's the best horse I've EVER ridden!
