Hi Bob, Thanks for answering my questions you have been more than helpful. BK> > she said that the animals end up hating you for always coming at t BK> > with needles and such-Because most of the animals for the Marine M BK> > Center come in sick or injured and they are wild animals. BK> BK> That's an immature attitude.. because while yes the animals resent BK> seemingly torturing them.. They mainly benefit from the treatment in BK> cases. I guess than maybe she was having a bad day, I was talking to her re: working with the whales and dolphins because one of the volunteers I work with at the Marine Mammal Center told me that she helped on a research project over at Marine World with the dolphins. But she told me that they do not have volunteers at Marine World-So, I don't know if that was a special circumstance that she did not want to admit to or what, So I was asking her about an externship once I get thru school at Consumnes River College her in Sacramento for Veterinary Technician. At first she seemed willing to answer my questions than she sounded anoid with me when all I am trying to do is just get started without spinning my wheels, I know that College Counselor told me that the only Veterinary Medicine University here in California is UC Davis and they take only a very very few students and it's hard to get into so that is why I was wondering if it would be more to my advantage to get the Veterinary Technician out of the way than try for Davis and if I don't get accepted the first time around than maybe go for UC Santa Cruz for Marine Biology and see how I like that and if some of the schooling there might enable me to try for Davis again. like I said at 33 I don't want to spin my wheels and on top of it I don't have a relationship where my boyfriend is willing to relocate so I'll have to really decide what to do once I finish Vet Technician. Because I have let the last 2 men in my life decide for me what I could do this time I'm not willing to do that ever again. Which for me that might mean never having a family since I'm 33 now with no children. BK> > boyfriends mothers horses they are so friendly(and they are the sa BK> > breeds) I trust them so much that I will let them get up close to BK> > like face to face, BK> BK> Do not do this unless you really know the horse.. it's basically da One particular horse that I did get up face to face I did trust, I just had this strong instinct that he would not bite me, as for the character Andy he's a brat I keep him at arms length, he'll lick my hand then try to nibble on it and I'm afraid he won't know his strength so he'll try and try to get me to let me guard down and when I don't he just goes off and ignores me. I'm told to smack him when he does that but I just can't bring myself to strike an animal,I'll change me toan of voice with him and yell, "No!" and I'll snap my hand away real fast But strike him, I just can't do it. Is that wrong? or do you need to have a firmer hand with them. BK> > BK> This is very typical, Many horses can tell you more about you BK> > BK> mood then you'd like to know about.. they normally read body l BK> > BK> and horses. Thanks for your advice & if you don't hear from me again it's because I no longer have access to this computer(meaning I ended my relationship) So thanks for your help. Dub had thrown two shoes, and I had to see how bad his feet were - not as bad as I thought. I'm springing back but this HUMIDITY is a KILLER! I was a little surprised at how ragged Casey looks; his formerly roached mane has grown out but I always keep his bridle path and fetlocks clipped so he doesn't look nearly so pony-like. Okay, he IS a pony - but how 'bout that Dutch bred horse with the Spanish rider in the show jumping finals? No faults, and he didn't look a LOT bigger than Casey! I thoroughly recommend an ultrasound - lemme tell you what happened to a friend's mare Windall is in his nineties, doesn't believe in all the "new-fangled" vet stuff, so when he bred his Quarter Horse mare to an Appaloosa stallion, he didn't have her ultrasounded. When she was five or six months in foal, she had a spontaneous abortion. A nice colored colt with a blanket. Windall didn't call the vet, being the old style cowboy that he is. Two days later, she aborted ANOTHER foal, this one a solid filly. An ultrasound would have revealed that she was carrying twins, and one could have been pinched off because with twins, there is a good chance that one or both of the babies will die before they are born, and mortality rate for mares having twins is also not good. So he COULD have not only lost both babies, but the mare as well. * Origin: ElseWhere,602-492-0368 1:114/212,81:301/2,142:150/114 (1:114/212) --- Squish/2 v1.01 * Origin: ElseWhere-(602)492-0368,142:150/114-ISA,81:301/2-OS/2 (1:114/212) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 243 HORSES Ref: DC500003 Date: 08/04/96 From: VICKI NICHOLS Time: 10:07am \/To: BOB KOHL (Read 2 times) Subj: RE: Appy eyes Bob Kohl wrote in a message to Vicki Nichols: BK> > Dub puts his head up and GLARES at me with an Appy eye.
