Open Halter Geldings. The little show up in LaBelle is an Open Show. Usually Arabs don't stand a chance against the Quarter Horses and Paints here (exception to the rule at this past show ). They are SUPPOSE to be judging conformation etc (so, everyone SHOULD have a equal chance in winning). I thought I knew a lot about 3: VN> him, but I really needed a third party to teach me - 4: VN> us. I know that the Tennessee Walkers that I have 5: VN> known have been real PEOPLE HORSES, they seem to 6: VN> have a good attitude toward working with you and enjoy having a "job." Walker(thats his name) is really friendly. He can be at the far end of the pasture and will come to me if I call his name. I usually groom him when he comes (he likes the brushing) and give him some Apple-Asses now and then. Sure makes it easy to catch him. He acts like he enjoys the attention. 7: 8: VN> The show I went to weekend before last featured Walkers in a 9: VN> half dozen classes - a few of them I am embarrassed 10: VN> to say were so beautiful they literally brought 11: VN> tears to my eyes. It was also nice to see a 12: VN> pleasure class with them featuring several 13: VN> different kinds of saddles, proving that you don't 14: VN> have to have a Plantation saddle to enjoy them. 15: VN> Now if only someone would do that for the Peruvian 16: VN> Pasos here they would be a lot more popular! I 17: VN> think we owe a debt of gratitude to William Shatner 18: VN> for popularizing the breed as a Western pleasure 19: VN> horse. My sister and niece show TWH's. I have gone and watched them a few times and enjoy seeing them perform. I think my sister uses an Aussie Saddle for trail riding (kind of a cross between an english and a Plantation I think). I use a western saddle, standard shoes, and I don't clip him cause the weather gets very cold sometimes in the mountains. Paso's aren't very numerous up here yet. I see a few advertised now and then but it's mostly Arab's, QH's, Appies and TB's around here I think. I have only seen pictures of the Paso's in magazines and I saw an interview of Bo Derick on TV with her Paso's. VERY nice looking horses.(Bo's not bad either;) 20: VN> What is a 6*12 stock trailer - is that a HUGE one? It is a Circle-J , 6ft wide and 12ft long. It's kind of an all around trailer. It's all open on the inside(no tack room or partitions) I can get 3 horses in it now. If I put in removable partitions and a tack wall it would be a 2 horse slant. I think I will leave it the way it is for now. One nice thing about it is I can turn Walker around in it and lead him out head first. It's still small enough that I can get around pretty easy on the logging roads in the mountains. 34: VN> I did! Thanks so much for the reply! How far are you from 35: VN> Seattle? I have an old atlas but can't find 36: VN> University Place or Pierce County (don't think ANY 37: VN> counties are listed) in the back...spent some time 38: VN> in Seattle during the World's Fair (okay, I was 8 39: VN> years old!) and some time at Fort Lewis in college 40: VN> (okay, I was a little more than 8 then!) I *LOVE* 41: VN> the way Rainier looks, and the way you can see it 42: VN> from so many places in the state. My wife , daughter and I live about 20 miles south of Tacoma between Graham and Eatoville. We live in a farming area and have 5 acres. Dee ( my wife ) has an Angora goat herd, and Jenny (my daughter) has a Boxer,a Poodle, and two cats. I was about the same age when we went to the World' Fair.Remember the "Bubblator"? We have a great view of Rainier and are pretty close to the Fort. We can trailer the horses over to Fort Lewis and go trail riding. There is alot of riding around here but I needed a trailer to get to it,so that problem is solved now Thank's fer the letter, I better get to work now.
