From the FAQ I saw about Time Warner's Road Runner Service, their software requires Win 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Win NT, or Macs. There is not a thing for OS/2. They are going after the majority of the market. You MIGHT be able to run the Win 3.1x version, depending on Win32S. I think USR has waited to long to make cable modems. Time Warner has a large percentage of the systems. Time Warner is using Mortrolla Cable Modems. The NIC card REQUIRED is probally by 3COM. It's NOT a big deal as it's connected via a 10BaseT network card, that OS/2 recognizes. I then share that cable modem across my 100BaseT local network to multiple machines, some running OS/2, some running DOS, and others running '95. They all work as I would expect them to. .....Bob --- GEcho/32 & IM 2.50 * Origin: North American RegSite for AllFix & Gecho (1:140/12.1) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 242 USR MODEMS Ref: FA100046 Date: 05/23/98 From: TOM WALKER Time: 06:03am \/To: TOM PARKER (Read 7 times) Subj: Re: Usr Promises -> Here's the first message posted to this conference. First Point, DID it Say it was Upgradable either on the4 Origional Box or in Any Literature provided with it?? Second Point, What you have is Not a V.Everything but a V.everything PCMCIA. There is a vast World of Difference. And if you Note on the 3Com Web page the PCMIA modems are in a total seperate area. Just a casual look at the two different modems makes it totaly Obvious that they could Not have the same capabilities in all areas. One is often critized for being overly large and the other is a marvel of miniturization. You just can't "Have your Cake and Eat it too" Another point, It seems to me that If yuo couldn't get the Registration to take you should have been alearted that something is Wrong. I also had registration problems with my "real" V.Everything(And By the way that name just implied that it could handle certian modem standards at the time of it's manfacturer, NOT anything someone would dream up in the future) modem but didn't charge ahead like a bull in a china closet.
