I missed the free X2 upgrade and needed to pay the $60.00 to upgrade my courier to X2. Everything seemed to go fine, but unfortunately, I didn't have a local ISP that used X2 at the time. My question is this, if I run an upgrade on my now X2 enabled courier, must I call in again to re-activate the X2? If so, am I out of luck, as I have lost the special number and password that was given to me. I am hoping that USR kept my modem's serial number or something in their data base and I will not need the special number and password again, or at least can get it from USR for free, don't think I'll pay the $60.00 again. thanks in advance, joe --- timEd/2 1.10 * Origin: After Hours BBS (717)865-2636 USR DS 16.8 (1:270/315) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 242 USR MODEMS Ref: F2M00000 Date: 02/14/98 From: BILL EASTMAN Time: 10:26am \/To: GENE LOWRY (Read 6 times) Subj: Re: ? -=> Quoting Gene Lowry to Bill Eastman <=- GL> In a message of Bill Eastman (1:382/1201) writes: BW> USR's consistently stated that all x2 modems will be upgradable to BW> the eventual 56K standard at no charge. GL> Gene Lowry Those of us that got X2 have been using it, and like was said back when X2 first became available, it was NOT a V.something, so the modem WAS STILL V.EVERYTHING _EVEN IF NOT UPGRADED TO X2_, but now that there IS a V.something (V.90), then the modem WILL NOT be V.EVERYTHING as USR marketed it. I KNOW one Sysop that DID NOT take advantage of the FREE upgrade to X2 because he figured it would not bennefit him, which of course it would not UNLESS one of his links got an X2 server (he has three V.EVERYTHING (NOT X2 enabled modems). ...
