This is one of those errors that should never happen. Once again, THANKS for the reply, Joe. In this case, I think it was the Courier that had "invalid codeword" for a disconnect reason and would be the Sportster in apparent need of repair. If he sees the reply, can the guy quote you when he asks for RMA? :-) --- Blue Wave v2.12 * Origin: COMM Port OS/2 juge.com 204.89.247.1 (281) 980-9671 (1:106/2000) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 242 USR MODEMS Ref: F2F00036 Date: 02/10/98 From: BRUCE WILSON Time: 10:42pm \/To: FRANCOIS ROY (Read 11 times) Subj: Re: Your Courier * Originally By: Joe Frankiewicz * Originally To: Bruce Wilson * Originally Re: Re: Your Courier * Original Area: USRobotics Modems * Forwarded by : Blue Wave v2.12 @MSGID: 1:115/500@fidonet.org 2506c5dc -> "Invalid codeword" means your modem "received an invalid V.42bis -> (compression) frame." Now if Joe would just be good enough to -> explain to us what that means in terms we can understand and why it -> might've happened. :-) It most likely means the modem at the other end needs a firmware upgrade. This is one of those errors that should never happen. As a temporary work-around, turn off V42bis compression, or use MNP instead of LAPM. Joe -!- FidoPCB v1.5 beta-'j' ! I asked them a simple question about X2 and they weren't able to solve it. A BBS owner solved it. The boss from my BBS asked another question and 4 months later he has never received an answer. I think that even though the 3com/USR products are great, the company will be ruined by their far below average support.
