I have an external 33.6 Sportster, and am experiencing problems with two downlinks - one of whom has a V.Everything, and the other of whom has a Quiktel Logicode V34. The following summarizes the sessions: I call him, we connect as CONNECT 31200/ARQ/V34/LAPM. I send him 587 bytes, no problem. I send him 4391 bytes, no problem. I start in on the first ~5Meg file, and we start to have problems. The line drops during the first file, and the same thing happens during the three or four subsequent calls. An example of link stats reports during these calls is: ATI11 U.S. Robotics Sportster 33600 Fax Link Diagnostics... It's taken from a call that he made to me, hence the compression setting. All my calls to him are using &K0, as an attempt to address the problem (see below), but this remedy isn't working. He obviously isn't using &K0 to me, but it still doesn't fix the problem. I call him one final time, we connect as CONNECT 28800/ARQ/V34/LAPM. The first ~5Meg file re-syncs, and everything goes through (although at sub-par V.34 transfer rates of ~ 3016 cps). I own 5 couriers (since sept '94) ...used them continuously every day since then, and only ever had a problem with the one modem (mastro VFC) up until I started putting S27=48 in the string back in '94. I call this number every day (and have done since '92) and it has never faulted since using this S27=48.
