Ie if I have RA running on C: and terminate running on D:, providing they use different com port and I use different config file, the original poster should be able to do it since my linux system is on f: (remember, I don't use dosemu, or windows or anything. I have a multiboot system, if I need to use dos, I boot into dos). Francois Thunus Miksi Internetissa: puhutaan englantia ? I am MB> struggling to install Gnome on a Slackware system... auggh. old habits die hard. Slackware was the first distribution, it was the first to offer a live system, but it is indeed getting old by now. The more I work with read hat, the more I like it. I am about to wipe out entirely the machine which has caldera to replace it by redhat 5 (the nice thing about managing a parc of computers is that you can try things on different machines :-). So far my favorite remain RedHats (started at 4.1, but specially now with 5.0). I still like slackware for sentimental reasons, but as far as zero maintenance go, red hat is way ahead. I love the Xtools for network configuration, and the automatic X config. It really makes your life easier. They even have my favorite fishtank ready to click on :-) I'll be testing SUSE shortly (probably on the caldera machine, before installing red hat). I'm sorry to say that I never had any luck with debian. The latest I tried was 1.3.1, and like the 2 previous times I tried it, something went wrong during installation. I never understood what, since neither redhat (4.1) nor caldera (1.1) had problems with the same machine. I won't give up, because the number of .deb packages is impressive, and since that's the one that went to the moon, there must be a reason :-) That's the beauty of Linux: there is something for everybody. I am sure that many people in this echo would welcome a first-hand appreciation of GNOME. I haven't installed it yet, mostly because from what I read it was not mature enough. any more info you can contribute is more than welcome.
