But you can get lucky especially in the periodicals. You could always visit a bookstore and browse. I have found so many books with only one answer in them. The rest of the topic I'm researching is covered in every other book combined. That can get expensive. So, I don't feel guilty at all writing down what I've found and putting the book(s) back on the shelf. Every so often I do find one that really speaks to me, and I purchase that one. And the books I've got I eventually don't need? I donate them to the library! ;) Bill --- timEd/2-B11 * Origin: TIDR OS/2 Warp, Wilsonville OR (503)682-3299 (1:105/40) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 241 LINUX Ref: F4B00020 Date: 04/06/98 From: JOHN BURTON Time: 05:34am \/To: ALL (Read 2 times) Subj: Re: Who's got what On Sun, 5 Apr 1998, Bill George wrote: > Who in here is already running a Fido BBS on a Linux box? I'm running a linux box with pine, elm, rn and lynx and other 'standard' stuff available to my dial-in customers. Since I'm running INN and sendmail *anyway*, it wasn't TOO hard to set up the ifmail package, particularly, Pablo's "tx" series. O yes, I had a few questions, but found most all the answers SOMEWHERE in the dox or mailing list... I'm reading/writing echomail and netmail with pine just fine, thank you... There's an AreaFIX package with ifmail, and a couple of tic packages with ifmail. Pablo and Eugene both hang out here, so I'm guessing they'll jump in with a thought or two.. As far as I can tell, the only drawback to doing busines with ifmail is that you can't have "new" users. Or put smarter, I don't know how to have a new caller run 'adduser' to automatically gain access to my system at some level... That'll come... Check in the /etc/passwd file and you'll probably find a lot of users that use the /usr partition. On my system I put all human users in a subdirectory called "/home" and made that a separate partition. JS> I don't know what to do and how to find out what keeps /dev/hda4 busy. JS> Please help me. I'm not sure what the "-c" switch on "sh" does, but all the commands in crontab are executed with "sh -c".
