I have an idea, but you're not going to like it. I have read either in "dr dobbs" or in "Byte" (but most likely "dr dobbs") that there is a feature in the Intel pentium chip. That feature prevents the chip from seeing any memory above 64megs. The rationale behind it is that if you need more than 64 megs then you are a power user, and then you should buy the pentium II instead. The feature is just Intel's way to make you listen to their advice... Francois Thunus Miksi Internetissa: puhutaan englantia ? [butting in :)] I've never used samba, or a NFS package for NT.. but from rumours I've heard, and my overall knowledge of Linux and NT, it's much easier to install and get something running in Linux in a seamless way, than getting something as strange (for Microsoft, that is) as NFS running on a NT box.. If you use Samba, any windows machine in the net will se the machine, and will be able to use it's resources (disks and printers). You can also use disks and printers on the windows machines from the Linux box. I've heard Samba works really good ! \EF BM> Bob BM> -!- GEcho 1.11+ BM> ! S> I've never used any kind of disk manager and have absolutely no idea what S> they will or won't allow. I've not used a disk manager with Linux; however, I do have a DOS/Windows box using one, and two things I've noticed: (1) It takes a lot of memory; and (2) It drastically slows the system down. I came across an addon card a few months ago that the salesman said would override the motherboard bios, and would allow the uninhibited use of large drives. I opted instead to go with an EIDE I/O controller that was supposed to do the same thing, but it didn't. YMMV. An alternative is to leave a smaller harddrive on the system as C drive, and add the larger drive for your main Linuxfile system. Put LILO on the small drive, and have it boot Linux. I did this with a '93 flavor 486. I told CMOS the dimensions of the drive, but didn't tell DOS about it. Installed Linux to the large drive, and it worked just fine. ttyl, Bob --- FalkenRdr V1.9d * Origin: Kennewick,WA <509-586-3157> - (1:3407/7)
