It has the following attributes: Modest size, about 12MB download, 30+MB installed Coexists with DOS, uses part of an existing DOS partition. Configured for internet use through an ISP. IMHO, this is the least painful way for the Linux newbie to move from DOS. I installed Slack several years ago, DOSLinux several months ago and have been installing Debian, RedHat and Slack recently; I USE DOSLinux almost exclusively. If, after installing DOSLinux, you want to download RedHat, it is a fairly simple matter to download it into Linux file space while running DOSLinux. No filename problem that way. Sorry, I don't think I can help you, as long you don't say anything more specific. Trust is making cheap compatible components, but you can't know what it is compatible to if you don't have exactly the same card for reference. If it is switchable between 'Sound Blaster Pro' and 'Windows Sound System' you probably have a MAD16-Chipset on it, if it only supports SBPro, you could try Mozart (which is the same driver with linux, IIRC), or just use the standard SB driver. To include sound in your kernel, you have to select - sound support - /dev/dsp support - /dev/audio support - /dev/mixer support - /dev/sequencer support (following is hardware dependant) - Yamaha OPL3 support - Mozart/MAD16 support and of couse you have to enter your soundcard settings. I've had pretty good luck with it. Here's a tip: Use the 2 boot/install disks. Go to redhat's FTP site and dowload rawrite from the dostools directory. download boot.img and supp.img from the images directory. Run rawrite on the .img files to write the images to 2 floppy disks. Boot your machine with the boot disk you just created and follow the directions. The disks will install the basic system and any goodies you select from a list available. This is by far easier than downloading all the rpms and doing it solo. Let me know if you have any trouble with it. ... My tagline is in the shop. This one is a loaner.
