Officially, from 3D Realms. No. Duke Nukem 3D is "done". There are to be no more updates beyond Atomic v1.5. It's on to "Duke Nukem Forever" now. Help! I recently downloaded the weapon add-on that changes the pistol to the M16 and the chaingun to the M249 Squad gun. These new guns also come with their own sound effects. I don't happen to like the one for the M249 and want to replace it with the sound of a 20mm Vulcan cannon. A much more suitable sound, I think. The gun Duke should carry. :) So, I have the Vulcan sound as a .VOC file, and want to swap it for the supplied M249 .VOC file. The problem is, my Windows sound editing program says it can't read the supplied M249 .VOC file, and it seems the game can't understand .VOC or .WAV files that Windows can read. For that matter, Audiostation's WinDAT can only read about 15% of the .VOC files on the Duke CD-ROM. Are we dealing with two versions of .VOC or .WAV files and what do I have to do to convert them back and forth? As far as I can tell from what I read about making CON files, the game could handle standard .VOC or .WAV, so I am stumped... Anybody help me out here? Thanks!
