Howdy Duane, Got the following from you; DI> I'll sned you a test message. If you sent it, I never got it. On the other hand, what is a sned message? Do you have an e-mail address? Would it be easier for me to write you there and you simply reply? Thanks for the info on the temperature of the western seaboard. No thanks, I don't want Aaron going there any time soon. Heck, who am I kidding, he can go wherever he wishes so long as he makes lots of money and keeps his Mom and I living in the style were accustom. (grin) Got a couple of questions for you and anybody else who feels like replying. I'm assuming you vote, if not regularly, at least occasionally. 1. How do you get information on the candidates platform or find out about the pros and cons of a particular issue on an election ballot? 2. How do you get to the voting booth? 3. How do you mark your ballot? The local election poling place is a different location from the one used for federal elections. I've gotten information from the state election commission and uploaded to the nfb board and other places. On the local election side, we have cable and we watch the council meetings. --- Platinum Xpress/Wildcat! v1.3 * Origin: The TALKING HUB * Alexandria, VA * (703) 549-5612 (1:109/632) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 238 VISUAL DISABILIT Ref: F5I00000Date: 05/13/98 From: HARVEY HEAGY Time: 06:59pm \/To: ALL (Read 0 times) Subj: Looking for someone If I posted this before, sorry for the repost. Here is the rest of the message. spelle check of course. This is what I'd have said if I had the time I vote! I will either take the bus or ride with my wife who drives. How I get there depends. I tend to vote in Primary Elections which Lynn does not, so than I take the bus. In north Dakota, if you need help filling out your ballot, you sid down at a table. The ballots are very large flat trays with the names of the candidates written on them. Beside each name is a small button you push which punches a whole in the underlying peace of paper which is the actually "counted" ballot. According to state law, An election judge from each major party sits at the table with you to make sure that your vote is cast according to your wishes. The system has worked very well for me. As far as information? I am an inveterate talking-had show addict. I watch NIght LIne, Meet the depressed, This week needs David Brinkley, ETC. I also take National Review and I did take Mother Jones for many years. I finally stopped taking Mother JOnes because the people who write for the magazine come from a different planet then the one we live on. Since the Mother jones planet is so different then Earth, there was not much relevancy. I di admit there was some good Fiction and I like the writing of barbara Errenrich. but I prefer my made-up worlds to be more consistent so I'll stick with Poul anderson, or Isaak Asimov, or Frank Herbert. or Pournelle and nivan. Having discovered the internet, I will also sometimes go out and get columns and articles. I also argue endlessly, listen to talk shows, and read. I can almost hear the readers of this message crying "Duane!" In file fist 34 symbols is Oname, then 24 - Dname, then 70 chars - team, tc. Can I use some functon only once ? Or only fread(ff->Oname,34,1,my_file), and so ? In Turbo Pascal I can use BlockRead Procedure, and get all nedded nformation to structure, but fread in Borland C can't do this...
