(Read 0 times) Subj: Reply to mamulcahy@fortlewis.edu Forwarded from support-list@blazie.com Original From: Marc Mulcahy Hi All, I am a keyboard player, and like to write and arrange music. Consequently, I have begun development on MIDIBraille, a 16-track MIDI sequencer for the Blazie note-takers. This program will allow you to use a MIDI instrument to write and arrange music on the Blazie Engineering line of note-takers. The initial version will allow you to record up to 16 simultaneous tracks of MIDI data. The program will support song tempos of from 60 to 240. Running with the standard speed chip, it will operate at a resolution of 48 pulses per quarter note, which is half the industry standard. Running with the new double-speed chip, it will operate at the industry standard of 96 pulses per quarter note. The initial release will not support direct manipulation of standard MIDI files. However, I hope to provide a converter from standard MIDI to the MIDIBraille file format. MIDIBraille is a few months from being ready for beta testing, but I would like to know how many of you would be interested in such a program. Send me an e-mail and let me know of your interests. Also, if you know someone who is not subscribed to this list who might be interested in this idea, pass a copy of this message along to them. Thanks! Marc ... It's refreshing to know that the spirit of <=> helping and sharing is still alive and well here in <=> BLINKTALK. Donald wrote to me through the internet and said that the program works like a charm for him. Sure is nice to be able to help with little problems like that when we can. I also had to learn how to use the instr function a bit better to make the program work so that was really cool too. I hope that I didn't make to many people mad by posting code in the echo. I've got to go test play some more games, he he he. Take care. Just last week I was sorting through a box full of about 300 floppies looking for a particular diskette. I run straight DOS 6.22 and after about a dozen diskettes I realized that just hitting the F3 key on the keyboard to use the VOL command was way to noisey for my liking. You know, the old: Volume in drive A is CRIM_204 which I found particularly annoying. A friend of mine, who happens to do a bit of programming, happened to call when I was sorting through these disks and I told him it was a damned shame DOS spit out all that "volume in drive X is" nonsense and not simply just the volume label. He told me to wait about twenty minutes and then take a look at my inbound for something that would make the task easier. Lo and behold, a file called VL.EXE and VL.DOC (a little something he threw together) appeared in my inbound and works like a charm. A simple VL [drive letter] spews out the volume lable only and not all the extraneous noise. There's probably already something like that written, but I wasn't aware of anything so he happily tossed one together in a few minutes. It's free, it's public and he'd be more than happy if someone else apart from myself could find use for it. If there's nothing like that available, I could easily put it in a debug script in about 3 messages and post it here or even sent it netmail or e-mail to whomever would be interested. He went in Wednesday March 18 to have a repair on a hernia done. However, they found more scar tissue and adhisions than previously thought so the operation lasted about 5 hours and he was then placed in I.C.U. He is expected to come out of I.C.U. sometime today and will be hospitalized for 8 to 10 days. The Dr. said the operation was tricky because of the small space they had to work in. He was in a lot of pain at one point on Wednesday, but went to sleep later on that night. If I hear any more, either I or his daughter Donna will let you know.
