Those of us who get Analog free from the National LIbrary Service can help the magazine and ourselves by buying subscriptions for friends, especially those who might become interested enough to renew themselves, our local high schools, Your town Library, and may-be your favorite dentist. The subscriptions cost $33.97 per year. You can subscribe by calling this toll free number. 800/333-4561. Analog has changed publishers. I hope the new publisher is more attentive to getting Analog on the news stands. OUr Local SF provider, the F. M. News. did not even know that Analog was still published. Someone dropped the ball! Stan seems to think things will improve with the new publisher. But perhaps a call to your local book store to encourage them to carry the magazine is in order. Why should we take this trouble? Analog is worth saving. It's worth a $33 subscription. It publishes the best short fiction written in America. It nurtures new writers, sustains established writers, publishes consistently good and thought provoking fact articles and editorials, and publishes the best book column since Algis Budries went out of the reviewing business. and if we want it, we have to help sustain it. Many of you know Linda from this conference. Some f you may know her as Linda Allumbough. Mrs. Iverson was in New Orleans for a surgical procedure and suffered a sudden massive heart attack during the recovery process. She was living in Stuart Florida at the time of her death and is survived by her mother, a half brother and one son, Jonathan 16. She was 49 years of age. I was with her just a few hours before her death, and I can tell you that even in her post-surgical pain, she carried herself with dignity, unselfishness and grace. Linda was a very dear friend of mine from Elementary school days, and while I feel this loss very deeply, I am proud to have known her and feel myself to be a better person for it. I always thought of her as a very special person. She touched the lives of all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.
