Being able to speak other languages make it all the more interesting, but I must confess that since I started fooling around with the computer, I've had to split my time between the two hobbies. It's also true that the reception conditions are different in winter and you don't feel as much like staying inside in the summer when the weather's pleasant. In any case, as I said in my previous message, I'll try it on Tuesday August 27 at 7:00 Eastern daylight time. between 3,890 and 3,900. Since the abled-bodied seem to want to control us and keep us down, maybe it's time we took over the agencies for the blind, and run them ourselves! Mutiny! Even some partials take advantage of their sight loss. I don't know anyone personally who does this. But one of my O and M instructors said it. Some won't use the sight they do have, since it isn't perfect. And some act like they can see more then they actually can, endangering themselves and others. I try to use my vision as much as is practical. That's all one can do. Have a good one. Again, it seems that an agency for the blind (the school in your example) is doing more harm than good for the blindness community by elevating partials over totals. Hello Christy. Nice to meet you. Oh, I still do get the "it's that way" even with Nina. And I do the same thing as you do. Try to get them to be specific, and if they can't, just find someone else. Nina is a 7 year old yellow lab/greyhound mix from Leader Dogs. She is an excellent worker. She is very enthusiastic about working; she gets very excited when I reach for her harness. She is loveable, too. Aren't most of them? Nina is the perfect match for me, pace-wise and temperment-wise. I am not prejudiced, am I? Take care! I sent Monique a message. Did she get it? If not, I'll try again. I read Jeff Dubois' message and he is right; if we can't define what constitutes blindness, how the heck do we expect winks to understand it? I also try to understand others' viewpoints and situations. I don't understand why any guide dog school would expect the partials to basically do some of the trainers' jobs. I find that completely inexcuseable! After all, the partials are there for the same reason as the totals, basically. To train with a guide dog to further their mobility and independence. Another example of the educators needing educating. It's kinda hot here, too. But it isn't too bad. This weekend should be nice. I am glad this summer wasn't as hot as some. Nina doesn't do well in the heat, despite her thin coat. And the pavements and streets burn her little paws. Give Maestro some rubs in all the right places from me. Take care! HI Dan DK> hi bill. there are a couple of possible reasons for aborted DK> downloads and only one i know of for a dropped carrier. DK> first, let me deal with the aborted downloads. if your DK> internet service provider offers you telnet in 7 bit binary DK> mode and you are trying to download from an 8 bit binary DK> system, this will cause your transfer to time out and then DK> abort. try rlogin with the syntax rlogin gbx.org or rlogin -8 DK> gbx.org and see how this works. I've actually tried both of those, and although I don't know if you can use the rlogin command with nettamer, it did seem to work for a while there. I've used my Terminate program with the rlogin -8 command, and for a while there all seemed just fine, but not any longer. since my server has been having some problems, I suppose that that could be part of it, but I seriously doubt that it deserves all of the blame as my mail and other programs seem to work just fine with it. Go figure. DK> the second culpret could be system loading on your isp. this DK> will cause netlag and thus, cause your transfer to abort. you DK> are starting to see this more and more on the internet as the DK> overall internet system is becoming too crowded without the DK> technology to overcome this little nasty secret. there is no DK> cure for this problem of netlag unless you switch providers or DK> wait till net conditions get better, sort of like waiting DK> around for ten meters to open. good luck Yeah, right. they say that in a couple of years 10 will be on the way back.
