I know I certainly did (althought ours is a slightly different format). I did mine last year. As there were 4 leaders from our Group, we actually all got together to do one large project, and did all the planning for a Group Open day, which due to work commitments, and trying to sort out 4 people's schedule, and get reasonable weather, finally took place last weekend. It was designed at improving links between the various sections and the parents, and had things like Axe & Saw safety demonstrations, model patrol camps etc, from the scouts. The cubs had lots of displays on what they did, and the beavers put on games. In fact, the only thing which culd have been better was the attendance of the parents, as not that many turned up. Those that did, fully enjoyed themselves. Oh well, I've got the second part of the Leadership 1 course which I'm tutoring on coming up soon, that aswell as running a District Patrol Leaders Training Course, and District Fun Camp, and the Official D.S.L. visits awarding points for the standards competition, and running the troop, and work, No wonder I'm shattered!!!!! The interior and the windows were done just prior to us moving in and if the rain stops, the outside is being painted. We basically have 3 kinds of Boy Scouts: Cub Scouts are aged about 7-11; Boy Scouts are 11-17, and then there are Explorers. I think they have to be 16 and can go on til about 21. Boy Scouts normally camp once a month and meet as a Troop once a week. There is also a weeklong summer camp and many other activities. Lots of the activities center around outdoors activities such as hiking, backpacking and camping and all that goes with that such as equipment, packs, tents clothing, food, tools (knives, axes, saws, and shovels), fishing, etc. I am located in Dallas, TX, USA. --- * Origin: NetComm BBS 303-730-7045 (1:104/603.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 237 SCOUTING #2 Ref: EAS00001 Date: 06/20/97 From: ALLAN ANDERSON Time: 01:41pm \/To: MALCOLM LAW (Read 0 times) Subj: International Contacts -=> Quoting Malcolm Law to All <=- ML> Hi, I'm Malcolm Law, Kea Scout leader for St leo's Scout Group, Lower ML> Hutt, New Zealand.
