Lately I was just promoted to Assistant Scoutmaster. I really don't know what to do. My troop has like 6 A.S.M. The reason why was moved up was of my age. I'm 18. The reasoning was that due to my age, the troop would be willing to work with me better than someone alot older. How I'm I to help run the program? I don't know where to start. Any Ideas. If it means anything, the scoutmaster said that I will pretty much be running the program if I can do a good job. Yeah, that's pretty accurate. How come you left Ireland? In Ireland there are seven Scout/ Guide Associations from what I've been told (inc the North). I'm a member of the Scout Association Northern Ireland, which is part of The Scout Association (England). In fact the current Cheif Scout George Purdy is from here! Then there's also The Scout Association Of Ireland, The Catholic Boy Scouts Of Ireland (CBSI), who are a weird lot as their Scouts where blue shirts! As a venture scout we take part in several events with the rest. The most noticable is the Belfast/Dublin Monopoly Run. It's open to all venture/ ranger guides in the whole of Ireland and alternates between Belfast and Dublin each year. Basically we play Monopoly using ourselves as pieces and Dublin or Belfast as the board. Last year the winners won a trip to the London Monopoly run. It's a cool event. BN> Are you interested in trading badges? If you are let me know and I'll BN> send BN> you BN> off some of our Canadian ones. Why not, I can send you a set of country/ county/ district badges if you want. If you want a complete set of these for the whole of the North I get them for you from the Scout shop when I get a job (hopefully during the summer). I have one badge from Australia on my blanket, plus all my own Beaver/Cub/Scout badges. Some Canadian ones could go down a treat, hey I might even come over and get them. I am 18 and have decided to take a year out before going to university. I intend to get a job for about four months or so to pay for voluntary work. I have an application in for winter staff at Kanderstag in Switzerland and I've been accepted to Houens Odde in Denmark for next spring. That leaves next summer free and if I have the funds I might consider visting America and Canada or doing some more voluntary work at your end of the world. But that's a long time away and I need to get a job first, and so far my attempts have failed:( Bye, Burly * TIMM 1.3 * 8: Camp flag (101 uses for a Scout Scarf) -+- OLMS 2.52 UNREG --- FMail/386 1.22 * Origin: Oodles and oodles of : Noodles!
