------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: Chris Wilkinson To: uk-scouting@scoutbase.org.uk Date: Fri, 9 May 1997 15:00:04 +0100 Subject: FACT Sheets We are pleased to announce that a small selection of FACT Sheets are now available in the Library on ScoutBase UK. These are FACT Sheets published by the Public Relations Department which area all available for download only in Word for Windows format. In addition the International Department's FACT Sheets on visiting Russia and Uganda are also available in the International Section. These last two documents are only available in html format. It is hoped to expand the range of FACT Sheets available over the coming months. Note that it is not our intention to electronically publish books, leaflets etc. It is felt that these longer documents which perhaps rely heavily on presentation by using colour, photographs and graphics are better suited to traditional methods of publication. ScoutBase would welcome your comments on the method of presentation. Would readers prefer to have the documents made available for on-screen reading with the ability to print out in the same way that any other html page can be printed out or is download using Word Format considered more appropriate as this preserves the original layout and style of the document? We might eventually expand this trial to include cross platform presentation and colour. Comments please to omt@scoutbase.org.uk We strive hard to try to ensure that you will only receive one copy of this e-mail. Sometimes things work to defeat us, not least the software and Compuserve which seems to enjoy delivering twins. Where we have problems we aim to put matters right quickly. If you are receiving more than one copy please let us know and send us the complete header of each message so that we can try to trace the fault. Radio 2 are producing a 50 minute programme about Scouting to go out in July this year. As always everything is needed quickly. 1. Is there a 'large' camp or activity in the North East of England taking place over the late May Bank Holiday weekend (25/26 May) which could be visited by David Bellamy? 2. Are there any Scouts in the London/South East area who will be going camping that weekend or early in June for the first time? The BBC want to interview them before and then after their first Scout Camp. 3. Is there a Gang Show which is going to run in the next two or three weeks that the BBC can visit? Please either email the Public Relations Dept.at Baden-Powell House (ukbphscout@aol.com) or telephone on 0171 590 5163/4/5 if you can help. -- Chris Wilkinson - Group Secretary - ScoutBase UK The Scout Assocation's Web Site http://www.scoutbase.org.uk E-mail chris@scoutbase.org.uk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ /-----------------------/------------------------------------------/ / ______ / / / / / / / Internet: jhaslam@ooh.dircon.co.uk / / / /---/ / / / \_/ames / /aslam / FidoNet: 2:254/233 BBSNet: 405:100/1 / /-----------------------/------------------------------------------/ --- * Kivi (unregistered) 2.01 * * Origin: Ooh! Hello Patrick PC> Nice to see you on board! My family came over here in 1852 from Dublin. PC> How is PC> it these days in the old sod? Wouldn't really know. I live in Northern Ireland and I've not been in Dublin for two years, although the last time I was down it was nice enough. It is a very young city now, I think some sizeable amount of the population is under 25. I know a couple of people who go to trinty college dublin, I could ask them, but being students like myself they probably won't provide any really useful information. I am a member of Banbridge district Venture Scout Unit and act as a leader for 2nd Banbridge Scout Unit. Before you ask, Banbridge is about 30 miles south of Belfast, on the main Belfast-Dublin road. So are you a Scout/Cub/Beaver leader? For how long? How many are in your nit?
