We went on a TOW campout this past weekend, and two patrols had three guys, and the venture crew had six. I'm in the venture crew and all of us are in High school, and as you've probably ecnountered, we all have different schedules. How can we make things so that kids my age will drop things to go camping. And also do you have any ideas for High adventure trips? My troop has been having many scoutmaster problems, you know RJ> -> one person wants to be scoutmaster and the committee doesn't want him RJ> -> even in the program. The PLC and I have tried our RJ> -> hardest to make meetings fun but our sense of fun is not the hit-em RJ> -> hard rough-em up stuff, any suggestions? Also our troop has been RJ> -> having problems recruiting, esp. from the cub scouts. RJ> Scott, RJ> The reason that the kids arent having fun anymore is RJ> becuase of RJ> the Senior Patrol Leader.. Can I ask what your normal RJ> meeting is like.. RJ> Comming from a troop of about 80, I probally can help ya RJ> :-).. What kind RJ> of recruiting events does your troop offer to the cub RJ> scouts? Next we have game, and the PL who is running it tries to make teams, but the kids just go on what team they want to and it makes the teams way unfair. next we have advancement where all of the uner-first class scouts pair up with all of the over-first class scouts, Sometimes we have merit badges going on then too We finish off the meeting with a closing, which is again poorly done, because everyone wants to leave. -- Recruiting? we haven't done very well in the past but at our TOW weekend our TROOP ORGANIZED a few more recruiting events such as a Pawsox night( (minor league Baseball), a providence bruins night ( a minor league Hockey Team), and a Father son weekend. Do you have any others?
