I personally put this computer explorer post on the endangered list. We will be registering/rechartering with a adult leader who is only going to be semi-active. He will only attend meetings that are close to his house and will not drive to our church to attend the meetings (It was the best offer I had from any adult that I have met) So we will take him up on his offer until a better one surfaces... Hi Nancy, when I was a Cub Scout, there was no rules upon how much Dad's can help. They really have to use their own judgement. But come to think about it, really the fathers do alot of the work (at least my dad did). But how could you expect a 9-13 year olds to operate a saw and sand and stuff. I think the general purpose of it is the Cub Scout to START learning about that kind of stuff.... Happy Holidays! I think that scouting encourages dads and sons to work, play, live together. My husband was a cub scouter for many years and he stood on his head not to help his sons because he was a scouter and didn't want people to think that he gave them an advantage. There will always be some dads who "DO" things "FOR" their sons rather than show them how and then let them do it themselves. I hope that your son was happy with his accomplishments. --- QScan/PCB v1.17b / 01-0348 * Origin: FidoNet: CRS Online, Toronto, Ontario (1:229/15) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 237 SCOUTING #2 Ref: CGU00000 Date: 12/24/95 From: JOHN SUMMERS Time: 07:45am \/To: DORIS DIGNARD (Read 4 times) Subj: Interesting reading. Get several people in different parts of the country (world) to call you and pick it up. Then "register it" with the backbone and have all those who have been getting it contact their NEC's and REC's and request it. You only need 2 REC's to request it and it will be added to the backbone.
