Ron, some may think this is cheating, but I have found how to survive 100 degredegree summer camp in Okla. Campmor and other sell the Mini-Max battery prtoable fan. It runs of 4 d-cell which will run all night for at least a week or longer. I have one fan which I used for two summer camps before changing batteries. aframo. Most important is it allows you to survive. In the late afternoon, I fut it on my chest tree. At night, when its still 90degrees, two fans in my tent, one at my head and the other near my feet works great!. They sell for about $20.00 each, and are well worth it! So all I can tell all of the warm weather campers, is with the mini max, "Just dont Sweat It" YIS Merl Whitebook Troop 1 Tulsa, Okla (In campmor its no 10301-D and sells for $19.99 Campmor mor) ... What do you mean "recyclabe" And are you saying I ask me troop committee for money for cameras and film developing? Fred let me start all over, I started being the Troop Historian last year around this time. I wrote about summer camp and other campout and activites. But I started reading what I wrote and found out that it sucked. I wrote cold facts and thats all there was. So thats my story. Please Help Me! Hello Andrew: Thanks for the reply to my message. It is nice to know I am making it into Scotland. I am an Assistant Scoutmaster in a Boy Scout troop located in Decatur, Alabama, USA, which is in the north central part of the state, on the Tennessee River. We are about 25 miles southwest of Huntsville, AL, where the Marshal Space Flight Center is located. What part of Scotland do you live in Andrew ? What is the weather like over there now ? It is extremely hot here in Alabama, with temps getting close to 100 degrees F daily. Thanks again for the reply. I hope to hear from you again. I think I'm going to have to come talk to you folks in about a month. I just got into Trent and I'm looking for a crew to join out there (seeing as long distance crews really are a pain...). Anyway, if I'm welcome to come check out your crew, drop me a line, if not then I guess I'll keep on with that long-distance crew thing (or maybe start that provincial crew that myself and some folks from Markham, Waterloo, Burford and Oakville have been talking about.) I have got to invest in one of those things. We spent our summer camp at Camp Daniel Boone, NC, and the temps were in the low 80s during the day, and the middle 50s at night. It was perfect....I loved it ! However, down her in the Tennessee Valley of Alabama, it is really hot, and we need some rain ! Thanks again for the tip. I bet it is hot in Oklahoma too. We are neighbors ! I live down here in Decatur, just across the river from you. To answer your question, our troop, Troop 260, went to Buck Toms about th three years ago and really enjoyed it. Last year we went to Boxwell (Camp Stahlman), and we just returned from Camp Daniel Boone a couple of weeks ago. We had a great time...the weather was perfect, but the water up there is COLD. Take care Jeffrey. I hope to hear from you. Now, I'll go to the library close to my house and try to get some there. And, I did go to the Tragically Hip concert, and I actually got into the grandstand! It was great, there was a HUGE mosh pit up front, and people were crowd surfing left and right. The music was great, and it was the nest experience of my life!! I don't know if I told you, but this was my last year of scouts. Next year, a group of people are talking about forming a venture company, and i might join that. I guess that's all for now.
