As (Tom ?) mentioned in an earlier message, the WB training allows the Scouter to benifit from the experiences of others and provides an opportunity to establish new resource contacts. I took my part II in the fall, and I learned more in the three weekends of actual training than I would have been able to learn on my own (and I thought I knew a lot prior to the course ). I would strongly recommend that Scouters take a WB II if time permits.... even the 'best' Scouters have something to learn. Nice to meet a fellow Scouter\Ham. From your callsign you must be located up in Maine or something. Boy, you have been a Scoutmaster for a LONG t Time. I also prefer CW over voice, because you seem to meet nicer people on on CW. I like to work QRP, and had a contact with a guy in Utah this afternoon on 20 meters. He was out camping and was using solar power. We had a great QSO. Today we had our Scout-O-Rama, and I set up a radio booth to introduce the scouts to amateur radio and Morse Code. They loved it ! I plan to take my rig camping in the future, but I need to buy another rig to do that. I would hate to take my Kenwood TS 850 out in the woods. Maybe I will get an old Kenwood TS 140...or some type of QRP rig. Thanks for the QSO on this conference Tom. Please give me some ideas for the Radio merit badge....like what type of project to build.
