(162 games) to do it! but interestingly enough he would not break Maris' American League record.... as he dint it them all in the American League.........:) Hack Wilson's 56 would be still intact too! It'd be a perfect to do it, wouldn't it? The Dh has been around over 20 years now, it hasn't lasted because its boring... watching the pitchers get a hit 1 out of 10 at bats, or less, as the sacrifice isn't an official time at bat, is in my opinion Boring.... and sets up many intentional walks, which are part of that NL strategy I guess..... & double switches in the batting orf\der could be carried out by a 4th grader, not a strategy either..... so what makes it better...... pitchers have an easy way out..... there are less runs as well as HR's hit... yep, real interesting, I can't wait til the AL gets down south here in the form of the Devil Rays, Bring on some runs!!!! --- VFIDO 7.13 * Origin: WildFire BBS (1:363/344) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: ED100008 Date: 08/30/97 From: DENNIS WIERZBICKI Time: 03:43pm \/To: GREG CALIRI (Read 2 times) Subj: Tigers Re: Re: interleague idiocy Hey the Tigers will be interesting next year, watch the minor leagues and you'd realise they have 2 #1 picks in pitchers as well as 3 young starteers now that ill blow away the Rockies starters away..... too bad the Rockies got stuck with guys like Ritz (former Tiger washout) and Swift.... paid millions for 'em & they still don't have 3 good starters! --- VFIDO 7.13 * Origin: WildFire BBS (1:363/344) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: ED100009 Date: 08/31/97 From: DORIS DIGNARD Time: 07:52pm \/To: VIRGINIA BLALOCK (Read 2 times) Subj: Getting rid of the DH VB>The owners have proposed getting rid of the DH. I think it will take a >lot to get that done with the Players Association in the way. But >also, I have heard a proposal where the DH would not be eliminated for >several years, letting folks like Paul Molitor end their careers and >getting pitchers and the AL ready for the change. >I could handle that. Of course I am also a national league fan. I'm inclined to have the DH done away with but it is a great spot for some of the better players to wind down. As you say Paul Molitor is one..for me it could be where Joe Carter will be able to go if he stays with the Jays. I think that he becomes a free agent at the end of this season, so he may not want to stay as he doesn't want to be a DH.
