RS> Texas wins by 1 game. I agree... Texas has a solid team this year, and I really don't think anyone in the American League has enough to stop them from making it to the series.... sadly, not even Cleveland.... (I like the Indians.... just because they were so bad not long ago) :) I also think they'll beat Atlanta... unless of course, Atlanta keeps on their skid and doesn't make it! Oh no, the Braves can't afford to lose either of those pitchers, unless they have someone that is ready to move up in the ranks. Only Vaughn is close among first basemen. Not specifically. RBIs are greatly influenced by other factors, specifically batters hitting ahead of you. I think Anderson's 100 RBIs (as of last Wed.) is more impressive than Palmeiro's 128, given that Palmeiro has had many more at bats with runners on (don't have the figures, but Anderson leading off will have the eighth and ninth holes in front of him, while Palmeiro's had Anderson and Alomar most of the year.) RBIs is the ONLY advantage, and as I've argued many times before, I don't look at RBI totals much when comparing individual hitters. AH> Dependability also helps a team. So does 50 home runs. AH> Brady's hit the long ball, but has been awful with runners in scoring AH> position. Alomar has slumped over the last month. Palmeiro's been AH> consistent. I'd like to see the figures on the clutch hitting. I don't buy the argument. Anderson can't be that bad with runners on, or else he couldn't have wound up with 100 RBIs already. Consistancy is nice, but being a better player is even better, which is what these guys are compared to the (very talented) Palmeiro. JD> about Palmeiro a bit too much as a home town fan. Your contention that Roberto Alomar's zone rating would increase and the fact that it did increase hardly constitutes proof that the increase was due to the factors you cited. I believe that somebody mentioned early in the season that Alomar had moved two steps to his right. The increase in Alomar's zone rating also supports the contention that he was mispositioned while while playing in Toronto. Hello All! After watching the particularly painful no-hitter Nomo threw last night against the Rockies, I have to tip my hat to him (even though it pretty much took the Rocks out of contention). To no-hit the best hitting team in baseball in their own home park, well... BTW - in over 50 years of pro ball in Denver (minor and major league), there has never been a no-hitter thrown...that plus the fact that Nomo had never before thrown one here or in Japan, makes Nomo's feat truely magnificent. One of the classiest things I've ever witnessed was the Rockies fans giving him a standing ovation (and a LONG one!) after the last out...
