I think that the Braves will pull it off. like they did with McGriff..They have A lot of minor league talent and an overflow of OF's..The Braves (as other fans here in Atlanta can probably back me up on) don't seem to have enoyugh faith in Jermaine Dye...I personally think he is a STUD and will be a 10 year ALL-STAR if given the everyday chance..... --- PCBoard (R) v15.22/M 2 * Origin: Resist the Dark Side! Just curious. >--- No. I believe switching back and forth with every pitch is against the rule. You bring up an interesting argument about a left-handed catcher. But lefties playing SS, 2B or 3B is out of the question. I used to think left-handers would make good catchers if they worked on it, because they'd be in a better position to pick off runners at first. They'd also have an easier time fielding a bunt. But somebody pointed out to me that they'd have a tough time tagging runners at home. So which is more important? Being in a better position to get runners out at first or tagging runners at home in a close play? Probably the latter. --- * QMPro 1.53 * ...He who dies with the most Taglines wins!!!! --- WILDMAIL!/WC v4.12 * Origin: Fresh Start BBS * Edison NJ * (908) 248-1678 * (1:107/310.0) --------------- FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 234 BASEBALL Ref: DBH00007 Date: 07/09/96 From: CALEB KIM Time: 01:42pm \/To: SHEA SQUIRES (Read 2 times) Subj: Mariners >-> Then why aren't they in first place? But I think Caminiti's a much better player. Was it Bobby Cox that put Chipper on the All-Star team? These managers are nuts. Look at Mike Hargrove. He must hate the Yankees. In my opinion, Andy Petitie should start and Mariano Rivera should be on the team. What about Gregg Maddux!?!? He's not an all-star this year.
